My boat is in the storage unit so I can't look at the amps to get the numbers.

What are the amps MTX ??
What sub? Ohm? SVC or DVC?
What ohm load are the tower speakers?

Looking at possibly changing the amps.

Amps are the Thunder Elite 604 and 404
tower speakers are 4ohm each but I am not sure how they are wired from the factory.
The TE604 runs the tower speakers and the subs, The TE 404 runs the 6 cabin speakers.

What do you think about putting the TE604 on the tower only and buying a te801 for the sub?

What are you trying to get out of your Stereo?

I would like more bass and louder tower.

I remember someone saying he got rid of his 604 and put more watts to the stock speakers and it sounded much better.

If you are trying too get it so you can hear your tower on your board the stock speakers will not get there. You can tune it and make it sound better. Just be careful at throwing $ at amps and keeping the stock speaker cause I still don't think you will be happy.

If you want something to really jam, you'll end up replacing everything. What are you wanting? Sound out 65+ ft and beyond? Surf/Cove? You'll want to wire everything at 4 or 2ohm. If you're looking to purchase amps- go class D or G/H.

+1 with what Nastya said. I have done towers and if my box ever gets done sub. Next year stock in boats will be gone they just cant keep up. Most people seem to go with Exile or Wetsounds for the tower. I encourage you to really define what you want and go out and listen to a few diffrent brands and see what sounds the best to you.

I see MTX in most boats and I understand Wetsounds is now going in Axis for 2012? What I don't really understand is why I have all Alpine equipment in my '12...

I've never seen Alpine in any Axis other than mine.

Axis removed MTX from their line up after the 2011 boats. Alpine came in for the 2012's. If you wanted wetsounds from factory you have to order the stereo 3 upgrade. If stereo pack 3 is still an option.
