35% on mine on the inside just like on cars, cost me 50$, tinter said it was the easiest boat he'd ever done, no damned curved glass, just took a little heat to shrink it in some areas

I usually don't drive at night but when I do I sit on the bolster and look over, visibility during the day is fine and my phone stays up by the glass all day

it also depends on the lighting, the first two looked dark because they had direct sunlight on them, this one is at sunset in the shade, my last boat was 5% and it was tough to drive without sitting on the bolster, I like the 35% much better

That's not true. I use quality film and always apply mine on the inside and you will still get a reflection. Tint works off light where ever you have the most light is where you are going to get the reflection. Example. On a car or truck, during the day the windows have some kind of reflection on the outside. At night if you turn on lights inside the car you get a reflection on the inside of your windows. If you are standing outside the car at night and the light is on inside you will be able to see straight in. This has nothing to do with what film you are using.

Maybe you don't get as much reflection with 5% because of the windshield design of the axis but I got enough the few times I had mine out to pull it off an put 15 on. My old glastron had 5% and it was horrible. Couldn't see anything out of it.

What I said is very true. From what you said in your first post is that you have a mirror like reflection all day from looking inside out of your boat windshield. You should only get a reflection from the OUTSIDE IN during the day. At night is possible to see a mirror if your cock pit is lit up. Check your wording so you do not deter people from getting a darker film and having nice UV protection. Your second post is considerably right; however, Tint is not activated by light. You will always have a reflection from the OUTSIDE-IN day and night. Tint is supposed to refract light because of the metallic pieces within its make up and provide UV protection. Fortunately for us at Best Buy, Lumar sends their training team to Best Buys to directly work with and train installers making them certified by the end of instruction. We are not a mom and pop shop, we know a bit of what we are talking about. For whoever was asking about putting 5 percent on their boat on here, its a nice upgrade.

Sorry for the missunderstanding. It's not "mirror" like a mirror filmed its just a lot of reflectivity. And tint is not activated by light. It is made to reflect light it knows makes no difference which side the light is coming from. Like I said earlier, if u shine a flashlight on the inside of a tinted window it will reflect that light just like it does the sun on the outside. But tint is the same on both sides. Only difference is glue is applied to one side and a scratch resistant coating on the other.It's applied to the inside of a window to protect it from the elements. It would never hold up applied to the outside of a vehicle due to elements it is exposed to. And I am very familiar with the process of making metallic film. It's called sputtering and we won't get that technical. Also you get the exact same uv protection from a 35% film as you do from 5% believe it or not, but with your "certifications" you should know that. Also you don't have to work for best buy to have a film rep come to your shop and train you on there product. It's part of there job. And please don't make it out like if you don't work for a big retail chain then you aren't qualified to tint windows. Your best window tinters in the nation usually don't work for anyone else they go out on there own because there is more money to be made that way and the customers get a much more personal service. Also 9 times out of 10 they take alot more pride in there work because it's there name and reputation on the line unlike a big retailer where they can hide behind the name. Not saying you or your co workers are that way but it happens that way often.

I am not near a computer, but there are some pics of my boat on the post pics of your rig thread at the top if someone would like to see what 15% looks like. I am very happy with it but like I said before I don't do much night riding.

I would definitely tint. My last boat had 20% and the day I brought our axis home (a couple years ago) I had that windshield done with 20%. I boat at night and it is fairly difficult to see and there is reflection from the leds. In the day its great - with the bimini up it provides a lot of extra sun protection. Its one of the best "upgrades" I have done.

Thanks for the pics guys. elc we are going to be out in Havasu Sept. 20-23 for the jet ski world finals. I had mentioned it to johns wife the other day and trying to see if they can make it also. My boat should be here late this week or early next week. Got a couple of projects to do when it arrives. Tint the windshield, add some more led lights, and changing out rims for some black rims. I will keep you guys posted.
