Hey guys,

I got a 2018 T22 with 30 hours and recently when I went surfing, the boat wouldn’t get up to the cruise speed at 11.4. Only would get up to 10.x and the more and more we surfed, it wouldn’t even get past 10. The boat also gave me a warning, “more throttle” but it was at 100%. The back ballasts and bags were filled, center and with 6 people in the boat.

Anyone have any idea what’s the problem?

Sounds like too much weight in the back, not enough weight in the front. What sized bags are you running?

You don't need to (i.e. can't) run full bags with six people unless two or three of them are sitting in the bow (or unless your bags are 400s).

That could be it. I have Fat Sacs and the boat came with them so I don’t know the weight, but I’d guess at least 750’s. They’re big.

Would this cause the “more throttle” warning to come on?

Also my blower stopped working. I’m sure this is random, but thought I’d note it.

Blower should be unrelated.

I have zero off, not the malibu speed control, so I'm not positive, but I believe that "more throttle" is just an indication that you haven't hit speed yet and need more throttle to get there. If you are out of throttle then you aren't going to get there without rebalancing the boat.

Add a bow bag or move 2 or 3 adults up front and see if that helps.. also what rpms are you running?

That would make sense I'm going to test it out again next time I'm out

Gonna test it next time I'm out. I can't remember, but if I recall, around 4k. It did sound like like it was struggling to stay there.

]IMHO the T22 doesn't need a ton of weight. At least the prior gen doesn't (2014-17). This is from yesterday in our 16 with three in the boat, full factory ballast, wedge down, and about 300 in each rear sack. More weight doesn't really make it much better.

Shouldn't be having this issue. I was out today with 6 people in the boat, rear 750s full, mid bag full, bow bag full, wedge down and still had no problem running 11, 11.6 etc.

All this talk and not one mention of which prop hes running? I bet hes running too much pitch. I had that issue in my a20. Boat came with a 2277 and it wouldnt move a fully weighted boat. Had to go to a 2249. Now i can surf all day with 750’s in the rear, a 400 bow bag, and 500 pounds in lead.
