Looking to buy a decent board for my sons in law to use. They are in the 220 Pound range. I am thinking of more surf style than skim.

Big guys, what do you ride and love?

Thanks!

Wayne

I tried a few boards with zero luck. Ended up ordering a soul craft and never looked back. It’s been a great board for me. I see where phase 5 has some boards for bigger riders now, I would love to try a few but there isn’t a dealer near me that sells them.

A bigger friend of mine, 6'2" 250+ had a hyperlite landlock. He was able to go ropeless after he got that board. He got really bored with it after a few weekends, because all he could do was just cruise with that huge board. He ended up really liking my inland surfer blue lake and chose to ride that every time we were out.

I suppose the landlock gave him the confidence and feel to move to a smaller board, but the blue lake was his go to once he had it down. Pretty much everyone we used to teach how to surf learned on that blue lake. I ended up selling it to buy a different board and I regret that decision because it was a great all around board.

I’ve got a buddy that’s 320 and he rides the ronix koal long board. He’s just getting it figured out. Good board just a bit tough for newer riders to get started on due all of the floatation it has.

I am 6-2 210 and I use the byerly buzz and it works perfectly. Not too big to where my smaller friends can’t use it and also big enough for it to be my number one board

Can't go wrong with a doomswell neo or nubstep. I'm 6ft 230 and ride a 4-8 no problem. Very buoyant and fast boards, easy to go ropeless and progress on.

Best goto big boy board is the inland red rocket or green room. I have had guys over 325lbs on the rocket. I am sure the larger doomswell will work also. For beginner big boys the red rocket has had the best results from my experience.

I agree but if you are a big athletic guy the red rocket will get boring fast... and for the record you can surf 400 plus on a red rocket

This is true.. So for a big athletic guy what is the best bigger board? I have a need for 285lb rider that has wore out a rocket.
