Monsoon safety recall

Did everyone get the safety recall on the monsoon motors? I got a 2016 A24 with the 409 and got a recall yesterday. Looks like a quick fix. My dealer is gonna get me in and out next week. Has to deal with circuit breaker and bracket arching and may cause a fire.

I got one as well on Saturday. It looks like it was from 2015 thru 2017 on certain 409's. I was going to call my dealer to see if I could do it myself and not hurt the warranty. We keep the boat at the lake which is 4 hours from where I bought the boat from.

Got one for my 409 as well on Friday. Of course I picked mine up from the dealer on Wed after they were supposed to take care of the other recalls at the same time. I read the recall notice, bend a bracket and wrap with electrical tape! impressive.

Got mine as well. Looks like a super easy DIY. I'm thinking no more than 20 minutes

Takes about ten minutes. Was going to do it myself but decided to run it up toTOMMY's today so they could submit compliance forms and get a check from Axis/Malibu.

Crazy, but my dealer wasn't aware of the recall. They're going to do it while they have the boat in for its 50 hour service today. . . .

Don't get me started about dealers and recalls that they don't know about.... You sell less than 50-100 boats a year and a handful of models, your service dept should probably read the recall emails they are getting

So this honestly take 5 minutes to do. If you are going to the dealer or live super close, by all means have them do it. Disclaimer. I'm not sure how DIY would effect this, if something were to happen.

I did it myself. Hard to see how this would impact the warranty unless you did it wrong. The fix is literally bend a piece of metal and wrap up some wires in a bunch of electrical tape. Not exactly rocket science. If you do do it wrong, your boat will catch fire and burn, in which case it's really an insurance issue not a warranty one.

Insurance would deny it because there was a recall. They would put it off on the engine manufacturer.

Did you document it (pictures are best) being done and let your dealer know so they can file it with the USCG as complete?
