We usually have a small crew and those seats are the most popular seats in the boat.

When it comes down to fitting 4 surfboards under that seat without the hinge or have the hinge for just one person to relax...I took the storage

I have a T23. Never thought a surfboard would fit in there. We've always kept other items in there so it didn't occur to me the space that the hinge takes up. But I have to admit, I usually run a small crew of 3-6.

I find we just leave the seat open most of the time and the "hole" is where I have guests stuff their junk for easy access instead of the observer's compartment. So I leave that area basically empty when not in use.

I don't think it takes up THAT much storage space, honestly. I have them on both seats and have plenty of extry storage.

hmmmm.... :-)

That would be a fun topic... how much crap do you have in your boat.... I will start with just the big items.

5 batteries
2 box anchors
2 foldy chairs
3 exile balls
4 spring floats
coleman xtreme cooler
butt buoy
trash can
4 orange "stylish" USCG floatation devices

I have kids so I also carry a 3 and 1 person tube. Those alone take up some serious space.

I load my boat different for each trip, our life jackets hang in the garage so we pack however many we need each trip. We leave a container in the boat with essentials all season long and ropes and our 4 exile balls deflated and 1 box anchor. Everything else gets packed morning of but the chillax only looses maybe 2" of heigh max storage and everyone loves it.
