Other than the option of hacking up the 1st gen non surf platform, has anyone fabbed a whole new platform similiar to what they are doin on the moomba forum? I have a 2011 axis a22 and the gen 1 platform seems to really knock down the lip of the wave. Seems like it would be fairly simple to do this using the stock platform brackets. Most of the platforms made on the moomba forum use a single piece of "1 HDPE board and then raised up a little with spacers made of the leftover HDPE. They end up looking pretty decent covered in hydroturf. You can get the board for about $165 shipped and about $50 for the Hydroturf. Thats far less than oem if you have the ability to do it all yourself.

Before you buy some hdpe and possibly mess up the cut, just go buy some 3/4 plywood and cut to shape screw it on and see how it works out, if your happy transfer it to hdpe and get your hydroturf etc for it

I got two different quotes to modify my platform.......both were over $3,000. Hdpe platform is on my list of winter projects.

I thought about doing this if i decide to tackle this project. Would be an easy way to see if going all in on the project would even be worth it.

I thought about doing a mock up but decided I know it's a problem so a new smaller higher platform will only help and the cost of a big sheet of plywood would just increase project cost. When I surf I can see the part that effects the wave. So I'm going to just go for it as a winter project. Summers are short in MN so I don't want to waste any water time.

Are you thinking of different brackets to raise up the platform or just building up the material of the platform?

I was planning on using the original style brackets and risers on the new platform. I am going to see if I can find a second set of brackets so I could swap platforms easily if needed.

Did you ever build your platform. I am curious about doing this on my 2011 a22? What did you do about the wedge hatch in the center?

That first gen hull and platform didn't have surfing in mind. Will it surf? Yes, it will but no matter what you do you won't be satisfied in my opinion. I had a 2011 A22 and I got the 2012 platform for it. It was quite a bit better but still not even close to a "wow" factor. I've surfed it without a platform at least a dozen times and that's when it was it's best...no platform at all.
