Had a drone pilot out for our last day out this season. Only had two 15 minute battery packs so we had to hustle but it was a lot of fun.

Cool footage. Are they filming from another boat or from shore?

From shore. We stayed close but he said it had a 2 mile range. We will try from the boat next season.

I actually liked the footage this way so you don't actually see the drone 'pilot' in the boat. Some really cool shots where he circled the boat.

We could probably talk a friend or two to come out with us in the cold but cold and at the ramp by 6am that's were we would lose them.

Our boat has been mostly empty this year as it was our first summer with the baby. No long days on the lake. We would get a sitter fly to the lake fill up get a couple hours of riding in drain and fly home.

We just started using our drone over water too this year (DJI phantom 3 professional)
We have a week of vacation on a lake and it took a bit of time learning to follow a boat at 32mph.
First up is me on the slalom ski:

Then I took over the controls while my dad tried to learn some inverted tricks on the wakeboard.

BUT...we sank it in August. Flying the drone, out of nowhere, critical battery failure and the drone slowly descended into the river. We fly from the dock and so didn't have time to alert the boat drivers...now we will have a better system in place. Never really had a problem before that so it was quite odd. Bought another one though so I could get footage at my sisters outdoor wedding.
