This year I've decided to leave my boat on a covered boat lift for the winter and winterize myself. In past years, I've had a dealer winterize and I've had the boat shrink wrapped and it's sat outside. Leaving it on the covered lift will protect it much better, but I've always been cautious about self-winterizing!

I've read enough of these helpful posts now that I think I have it down, except for one part.

I want to be able to flush the engine and add anti-freeze back in. I thought about purchasing a "fake a lake" plunger system, but I think that will be very difficult for me to get under neath the boat while it's on a lift in the slip. Is my only or best option to install a Perko flush kit? Once I have the flush kit on, do I need to keep the water and/or anti-freeze under pressure with a pump of some sort to push it through the engine?

Perko's flush pro has a plastic black fitting that when installed in between the hose and the fitting, it overcomes the check valve spring pressure and allows antifreeze to flow in freely and get sucked up by the impeller.

So, hook up a hose. Flush engine until up to temp. Drain all water from all the drain points. Hook up antifreeze kit. Then restart engine. Once pink starts coming out exhaust. Kill the motor.

Disconnect antifreeze kit. Then pop out the impeller.

I use this kit for my boat and for my RV.
