Here's mine with out the actuall gate installed.

I place mine as far back as I can get it right on the at the bottom of where the hull break is. Its about half under water when we are sitting and pretty much clear under water when we take off. It puts enuff spray out to come up onto the sun pad while underway. I think if I ran it higher on the hull it would be totally out of the water just sitting at idle. I basically put mine in the exact spot they do in the Mission Delta video when they put it on the red/black a22.

I wonder if your 45 degree angle is the ticket? Im gonna try running more bow weight first and may mod a new gate to try a different angle if I get time before the summer is over. We are gonna be running out of lake days real fast here in IL

Mine works great. Only complaint I have is the wave doesn't have much lip. Its tall, fairly long and has tons of push. I'm the same as kx250frider617 where I am always on the brakes. I ran at 11.8 mph (yes it's GPS calibrated) last time out and that's the best speed I've found yet.

My dimensions are 9"x6" with the outside rounded off (like mini gravestone shape ha) at like 80 degrees. I saw a post on Wake World where decreasing the angle helps with lip and increases push. http://www.wakeworld.com/forum/showthread.php?t=806331 Last post on page 1. I'm going to add some washers and decrease the angle a bit this weekend.

Also get the gate in the water. I keep mine just barely submerged when loaded with ballast and the angle is flat to pointed down a hair. Play around with position and angle of the gate. I know I've moved mine before and gotten a totally different wave.

Yours actually looks like it's more perpendicular than mine, I think my mounting handle is on the other side of the base than yours, I cut mine at 22.5 deg off of my mitre saw, which puts my paddle at 67.5 deg, if you mount it on the other side the angle is greater depending on the length of the base

I've seen a few people with older boats modify the swim platform to stop it from digging in the wave, mine does it and from the looks of your video yours does too, that's probably the reason all the newer boats platforms sit so much higher out of the water. A few years back I think it was AJ who posted a video of his surf wave with the platform removed and the wave was amazing and clean with no platform wash. Maybe it's time to take it off and see, or start sanding the bottom and edges out smooth.....

Ya im fairly certain my first gen platform doesnt help however i think getting a 2nd gen platform (non surfgate) only reduces the platform in the outer corners. Im not sure how much that would help in a evenly weighted suck gate setup. Im not sure i would be up for putting up the money for a 2nd gen platform to test the difference. My next step will be adding bow weight then making a new suc gate that puts the angle a little closeer to a 45. I would just like to get it the best it can be with the boat that i have.

Don't waste your time with 2nd gen platform. Mine is 2nd gen and I'm contemplating getting it modified. It's better than 1st gen but still too wide and low.
