Going on a trip to lake Powell. I have a 16 A24 with the 409 engine with the high elevation stock prop. Anybody have problems loading the boat up with weight and getting to speed. I'm in San Diego so haven't experienced the higher elevation problems yet. I have full ballast with plug and play 950's in rear and the 650 in bow and have 2-325 bags to move around. Any info on what to expect would be helpful. Also has anybody done any upgrades to engines to get more power or torq. Or does that just completely void the warranty.

I know Powell well. I have a T23 with a 409 and both the stock high altitude prop (1235 I think) and one that is even torquier (2315). Lake Powell is currently at 3613 ft above sea level. That is the lowest elevation I boat at. The stock high altitude prop seems the best one there for me to get the combination of good cruising (this lake is 150 miles long with a coastline longer than the West Coast and I frequently go through 150-180 gallons of gas in a 4-6 day trip) and good surfing. When I go to higher altitudes than that I run into issues with the 1235 (that's why I bought the 2315) but I've surfed with 8+ in the boat plus 3400 lbs of ballast plus wedge at Lake Powell without issues with the 1235.
You will notice a difference compared to San Diego, but I wouldn't change props unless you aren't going to be going very far from the marinas (which in my mind defeats the purpose of going to Powell.)
