What type of improvement did you see? was it worth the time?

done it.

Have had an EQ in all my boats, so the "improvement" is that my wife knows how to turn the volume up and down.

I also like having the sub control on a knob at my fingertips.

I installed before we put the boat on the water so cannot really say whether the eq's higher pre-amp output level improved the sound of the system.

Do the volume controls ( radio/remote) only go as load as the set volume of the 420? Wondering about remote mainly, we use it a lot at the sandbar and wet sounds wasn't a lot of help with this question. If you mounted on starboard side, do you remember the length of the rca cables ( I forgot to measure and the boat is 3 hrs away!) Thanks

Mine is mounted under the helm. I used the wetsounds "wetwire" (or whatever they call it) cable and there was plenty of length. You can see the EQ under the HU here:

The EQ stands between the HU and the amps. You can turn the volume up and down on the HU, but the loudest it will go when maxed is however loud you have the EQ set. So if you want to have full volume control at the HU remote, you'd just need to remember to crank the volume at the EQ before you get out.

no prob. You will need to build a bracket to place the eq there too.

Not much, if any, improvement in sound quality that I noticed. But it does make volume/speaker control much easier. You will have no problem using the transom remote. You will just need to adjust the EQ volume to give some "play" while using the remote
