I do agree but there are some exceptions to this statement. I have found that I prefer the wedge down. Some newer riders that are just getting into surfing, I prefer to teach them with the wedge up. With the wedge down the wave can be too pushy for new riders. Once I have pulled the wedge up, the new rider typically can get a better grasp of the concept of surfing.

Here is the link I referred to from this forum. As shown, the wedge does not "float" it sits against the stop-bolt at surf and wakeboard speeds. There are two positions for the stop-bolt that allow for more or less wedge angle.

Who would be willing to sit on the back of their boat while the surf wake is being thrown with some Parachute cord attached to the wedge and slowly lift it (if possible) to video document the changes in the wake? It's for science and stuff.

Make spacers for the stop-bolts. Much simpler and stringer. The concern would be stress on the transom bolts as the unit swings back and pulls back on the transom instead of primarily down. It is a classic lift vs drag issue. The lift in negative, but you want the most lift and the least drag. I am happy with my 2014 A22 performance and do not want to change a thing! Well maybe more weight in the bow, but that is friends or a fat sack, maybe the same thing.

I tried to pull wedge up once while boat was still drifting a bit. There was a lot more force there than I would have thought at slow speed.

So I drilled 2 sets of holes to try the wedge at different settings . After looking at my buddies power wedge and where we usually keep his wedge for surfing and wakeboarding I decided on where to drill the holes. 1st set of holes is 2" up the radius from where the wedge sits on the bottom bolts and another set 3" up from the bottom bolts. The set that keeps the wedge 3" from bottom was great for surfing but the boat would barely plane off if u tried to wake board behind it. The set 2" from the bottom was just enough to let the boat plane off easier yet throw a great wake for wakeboarding. So far a huge improvement over stock. Gonna put another 1000# ballast in also this weekend and give it a try.

Just one question? Isn't the steel raw now where you drilled it? Are you gonna coat it with anything? Paint, Polish, clear? Seems it would rust out faster?
