All depends on what you're doing. Do you sit at the cove and listen to music for 3-4 hours at moderate volume? If so, one battery isn't going to cut it for your system. You'll be draining it and once/if you start her up the alternator will be taxed trying to charge it. Not good in the long run for battery or alternator. How many batteries do you have?

I would never have less than two stereo batteries no matter how small the system is. I'm not a party cove guy at all. I'll float a couple times a day for maybe an hour and listen to music at 25%-30% volume. Plus towers are usually off unless we are swimming then I might add just a little bit of tower volume. At night though my lady friend and I do float sometimes up to 2-3hrs and now I'll have two transom LEDs (in boat LEDs aren't really an issue). Adding the second stereo battery and hardware to your system is not expensive. It's extra play time, extra reserve, less work on the electrical system, and peace of mind.

I have two batts. Not sure what they are as I havent picked up my boat yet. 2-3 hours at the cove is a possiblity.
