I've had this happen and the only fix that worked was replacing the ram. If any water breaks the seal on the ram, they short out.

@garner my gates are currently in the stowed position. With the switch in the middle position there should be a black box in the middle on the display and it is not. If I move the switch to the left or right the display should read gate ready on the corresponding side and yet nothing. I get no movement or noise when I place the gates in service mode which normally would extend both gates at the same time. The only thing I can do is enable or disable the gates through the setup screen.

It sounds like you might either have a loose wire, bad module, or need to do a full reset to factory defaults.

AND you need to contact Malibu about the service you are receiving from your dealer. Malibu takes post-purchase satisfaction very, very seriously. They understand their customer base is narrow and relies heavily on repeat business. They will help you out with your dealer.

I had this issue with one of my surfgate rams. That model year had seals that go bad and they have to be replaced. Hope you aren't past your 2 year warranty.

It sounds like you have some legit issues. Work through your dealer to resolve them. If they don't resolve them then work through Malibu. Good luck with your boat. I have the same year and my surf gates have been almost flawless.

Just list the hell out of it until you can get them locked down with an appointment to look at it same day drop off / pick up. 800 up front, 800 in the locker, 400 on the listed rear side seat, 400 in the floor beside the listed seat, wedge down. You might be surprised how good that wake is.

**Update**. Took the boat to dealer and they replaced a bad control module. Surf gate is working perfectly
