My tower has to come down every time I get home in order to put the boat in my garage. I have Rev8's on the tower and it's very heavy. The tower support tabs have to go out instead of in so that the tower can go as low as possible in order to clear my 6'10" high garage door. This in turn causes the board rack on the starboard side, which is turned in, to rest its corner on the cabin grab handle. For whatever reason the port side board rack remains slightly elevated above the grab handle on that side. I'm pretty wary of having that much weight resting on one very small contact point. Once I get the boat in I prop up the tower with the original 2x4 wood strut that the tower rested on when the boat was shipped. It works but it's not ideal because it doesn't sit directly down on the floor. It's at an angle and sometimes slides out, allowing the tower (to slam I imagine) back down on the grab handle. In order to avoid this I can move my rear seat and transmission cover to get the strut at more of an upright position but that's a pain too.

2 questions -

1. Is it ok to leave the tower resting on the grab handle in the cabin? If not then...

2. Have any of you who drop your tower regularly (with the support tabs out) come up with a good way to prop it up so that all that weight isn't resting on such a small contact point in the cabin?

My 2016 A20 came with a retractable pole with a plastic/rubber foot on one end and a cradle on the other specifically to hold the tower. I have to take my tower down each time as well but I haven't seen any part of it resting on any grab handle; maybe mine's a newer tower style or different boat? In any case my tower has no speakers and the telescoping pole doesn't really feel that strong, I think you'd be better off with something custom. I also slide the rear seat forward and rest the support pole on the fiberglass floor/step thing as opposed to on the cushion.

Do you put the folding tabs from the tower in or out? If they're in I believe the tower rests on them and not the grab handle, but it's also too high to clear my garage door opening that way.

This pole came with the boat from the dealer? I'd be interested to try one if I could get it. But as you said I might need a custom built solution. I'm thinking about possibly putting a hook up in the ceiling and hanging some kind of rope or strap that would hold the tower up. The only issue with that setup is that we have to angle the boat into our 3 car garage and it doesn't always end up in the exact same spot so while it's pretty close each time there could be somewhat of an angle on the rope/strap rather than straight up and down. Idk if that would matter or not.

The tower arms fold in. I don't think I could fold them out. They hang inside the boat at least a foot; if they were hanging out I don't think my boat would fit through the garage door? I'll look when we go out this afternoon. Yeah, the telescoping pole came with the boat from the dealer. I'll snap a photo when I go out this afternoon.

My buddy made this to hold our tower up. Rubberized undercoated the bottom of it. You could trailer with it if needed even, the bottom plate has a lip that goes under the seat also. I can take more photos if you have the means to bend a pipe up.

I made a similar support out of a 2x6 with a "V" cut at the top to hold the tower and then a wider piece of plywood at the bottom. I used a piece of foam rubber at the top of the "V" to prevent scratching the tower. I also have the same speakers and agree they are very heavy, so I wanted a wider support base at the bottom of the 2x6

If it's always in a similar spot in the garage do what I did....sink a big eye hook rated for a bunch of weight into your ceiling....go to lowes or Home Depot and pick up the thing linked below....and boom.

After you get in just lift slightly, Velcro in place, and your stoked. If you need a drop from your ceiling just add some chain.

Some photos of the pole thing and where it sits. Also the tower arm folded in. http://www.massassi.com/etc/axis/

2x6 and 3/4" plywood to evenly distribute the load across the fiberglass... I have 2 410s... WAY HEAVY.

I wonder if that's a Malibu part or some aftermarket pole the dealer got for you. Looks good either way.

Nice that you can leave half your mirror mount on. I have to take mine completely off. My A20 barely fits through the garage door opening with the tower completely down. The highest part of the boat is the windshield frame.
