Thanks for all the tips ^^^^. I am in the same spot as WRBrackett. About 10 seconds of slack followed by too far forward or back.

One of the things we have learned is...if you start falling back lift your rear heal...it helps to distribute your weight forward.

I take new people out all the time. And that little bit of nose lift keeps riders from staying in the pocket it seems to me. Once I see the nose of that board go down just a bit I know the rider has it.
It will not take long and you will have it.

New to us boat and 3 of us have learned. Everything folks are saying is perfect advice. I think leaning into the wave keeps you moving in that direction and trying to keep water contact with the front of the board helps. i.e. keeping the board flat on the water.

also try slowing it down a bit. I find 10 - 10.4 is perfect.
