Carguy -- you need a Red rocket. Might be able to get away with the Swallow if your wake is nice and big.

i have the Byerly Volt 4'10" and the Byerly Buzz 5'2". the Buzz doesnt feel good in the water at all. the volt (has 2 small fins at the forward settings) pops out of the water better and feels good getting into the wave but just cant go ropeless. am new to surfing but the board seems slow. I am 5'9" weigh 225 lbs. am looking for a diff board. ('15 A22 stock ballast plus 750s and 950 bow sack.) my lighter sons (180-190) can do it on the volt.
where are you located? I have a red rocket you could try out...

red rocket, huh? thanks for the recommendation. just looked ...5'6" pretty big. would that be kind of a hybrid skim? r33prwd, I am in the St. Louis area...I figure if I can go ropeless on something then I can refine it from there. will that board fit in the racks?

I just got my boat home today so i will check if the board fits tomorrow. I bought it because i was surfing behind a xstar with a smaller wake and this board works very well. I am bigger than you though.

That's awesome! My local shops don't rent or demo that I know of.

Check out the Victoria Debut. I think they typically cost about $200 and had good reviews.

Also check out the liquid force to custom. It is a good board for the price.

Do you know if you want to ride skim or surf style?

Skim mostly. Buddy has a IS Squirt, and it's my fav to ride. Just hate to drop $700 on a board.
