What are you guys wearing for vest's. Sam's Club has some nice neoprene vest's that we usually buy but I want a vest that is more of a comp style. They seem a little longer and better fitting from what I can tell. Looking for USCGA as well.

My Sam's doesn't have any vests this year, or if they did I missed them.

I wear a standard USCG Hyperlite neoprene vest with a zipper and 2 straps. Nothing fancy. Wear to board/surf and also on my Sea Doo.

Its unfortunate that there are not a lot of options for USCG approved and a more comp style fit and styling. I wear a CWB vert vest. Good break up of the panels but certainly not thin like a comp.
Most people suggest the Ronix One Capella CGA, the Oniell Assault and Revenge models and the Hyperlite hatch. I'd also consider the hyperlite team vest. I tried that one and thought the neoprene was especially stretchy to give a slightly more fitted comfortable feel. I also thought that I would need a medium in that vest when I would normally wear a large, FYI.

To my knowledge there are no comp vests that are CGA approved. Years ago Helium made the best slim CGA vests that totally resembled comp vests. However, ever since Sterns bought Helium, Helium barely exists or may not anymore. I wear a Ten-80 comp best, it floats well and is reversible. I'm 6'00" and it's very long in the torso so it looks good. I hate the bulky and short GCA vests as well but they do float the best. As mentioned by "Wtstapel" in his post, those are the best options.

The Hatch is probably one of the better CGA vests that is on the thin side. The Capella is a very popular vest and is probably why Ronix made a few colors of it with different riders endorsing it. That and the fact that paying to get a vest CGA approved is not a cheap or easy process from what I understand. There is just not that large of a selection of CGA vests that are really tech and thin. The few that are price out over $150. But what is a vest worth that will float you when you knock yourself out completely? I think the best bang for the buck is the Hatch.

Is the hatch more of a standard life vest? Seems shorter than the others. Whatever I buy for me I'm buying for my oldest son too. I could probably get by with a non CGA but prefer to set the example for my kids.

I will have to look at the Capella.

It is a side entry vest. I don't think it is any shorter than the other hyperlite vest.

Does anyone have an opinion on the ncga vest that will float you the best?

Is the Capella longer? From the pictures the Capella looks a lot longer.

I have the hyperlite franchise and ronix one both are non CGA . The hyperlite fits much nicer but not quite as floaty as the ronix, but it is still my favorite.
