Has anyone thought about converting or have converted their cooling system to a closed loop system? If you have what was involved in successfully doing this? I'm thinking this would eliminate the need for winterizing.

I'm not engine savvy, but I had to winterize my closed cooling engine. I have the corvette engine. They but said the manifold still needs drained??? I'm not sure if that was the correct part.

Pretty sure the cost would make it not a viable option unless you want it for salt water as well.

mine has the closed system but as jdiaz said certain parts still get water cooled, exhaust manifold and the v drive and trans, so you still do a basic winterization

It's not a terrible question, and a closed cooled boat can usually be drained much more quickly than a raw water cooled boat. Yes, you still have to drain, but it can be as easy as pulling the vdrive plug and two manifold plugs, depending on your setup.

here's a good DIY thread for an indmar conversion: http://www.themalibucrew.com/index.php? ... onversion/ Pretty sure you can buy a turnkey kit with all hoses and everything for a crusader (PCM), but I can't find the link. IIRC the cost of the kit was like $2k.
