I bought a bought a new 2015 AXIS A-22 , and my friend did too.
A dealer in Kentucky said he was going out of business and selling current inventory for the same price as Malibu would pay him to come get his inventory, he claimed they were coming "Next Tuesday" to pick up all his inventory.
So without too much investigation, and believing this story , I bought two boats for cash.
To make this short, it's all a scam to sell inventory, they are not going out of business, just doing bad business,He won't do warranty work, won't answer phones text or emails.

I know you've spoke about this before but did you find another dealership to help with warranty work? Have you called Malibu or axis?

LK,
I am from Kentucky and I know the guy very well that you are talking about. I was looking at one of the boats and one of my good friends bought one of the boats that he was selling at the end of last year due to him going out of business . He is no longer a boat dealer of any kind and cannot perform warranty work. He is still doing some mechanic work and the pro shop is still in operation. I am not sure why you are upset. You knew when you bought the boat that there would not be any support from this dealer as he would no longer be there. I am sure he is not answering your calls due to the fact that he is NOT an axis dealer. You bought a boat at a big discount, find a dealer near you and move on.

Well , I was told by a fellow member on here that he was at the dealership and there are new Axis boats on his floor for sale and he's not out of business, so I called Malibu / Axis and they assured me he is still an Axis Dealer , so the stories he told me , and his subsequent failure to give me the missing parts ( he said he found the parts ) and overall very poor customer relations are a sign somethings not right.
You can handle your affairs or business any way you like, however I may be old school and believe if a man tells you something his word should be good. Nothing he has told me has been truthful so far nor has he followed through on his promises to provide the parts that came with the boat that I paid for irrespective of what I paid for the boat they are my parts.
You might feel a little different or have some skin in the game, however I am confident that most people who spend 60k on a boat expect some customer service, want all the parts they paid for, need a bill of sale to use the boat and prefer not to be lied to or jerked around for this long.

I believe you have been misinformed. They are not selling new boats. I just called and talked to them myself. I would say customer relations would be zero since they are no longer a dealer.

Maybe I am, Malibu said there still a dealer, and I did get an email from Boatworks today at 3:07 today saying they would ship the parts today, so maybe you did call them or it is a coincidence.

Your correct that customer relations are "zero" however they still have a customer base that should not be ignored considering they still sold a bunch of boats to people who ultimately will need service or other services.
Again you may expect less from your dealer, I have been more than patient and I suspect others would agree.

What dealer was this? What did Axis/Malibu say when you told them the issue you were having?

But i think the point you are missing is they are not a dealer anymore. They will not be servicing any customers new or old. The customers they had will have to go to a different dealer for service and warranty items. That is what happens when a dealer goes out of business and why the boats were marked down as much as they were.

I don't think I am missing the point, I don't care if they are in business or out of business. I was told by someone who said they went to the dealer and also Malibu said they were still a dealer.
I do care that it takes this much effort to get parts for my boat that I paid for, whether I got a good deal on the boat is irrelevant. And I still stand behind my thoughts that service after the sale should still be a consideration ( Not Warranty Work ), but a simple Bill of Sale to get it registered and providing the missing parts ( which I still have to pay someone to install ) really isn't asking much on my part, however I understand others have an opinion that could be contrary to mine.
I also know that Malibu was never coming to pick up the remaining inventory and the boats could be bought for the same price the factory was buying the boats back for. No need to beat this horse to death, the parts may be coming in the mail, I can have the boat serviced wherever I choose , including the warranty work.

Regardless, you should have got what you paid for it does not matter if Boatworks is now a dealer or not. I am assuming that Boatworks is in Louisville, KY. When you look up that area for an Axis dealer on the Axis website it does not list them as a dealer. It shows Marine Sales and Service as the Louisville dealer.

I would be concerning with the bill of sale more than anything. Did you get a bill of sale on either boat that was purchased? Personally, I would call Malibu back and request to talk to the rep that covers the area or request to escalate the issue.

All around it sounds like a bum deal, but also whoever you new servicing dealer is should be working to gain your future purchases.
