As mentioned in the subject line, I am a first time boat buyer that would like to purchase an Axis T23. I definitely need some help from some of you guys. I met with the dealer, test drove the boat, and designed one with the sales representative. The MSRP on the boat is approximately $85K. The dealer offered an 8% discount, which makes the cost at $78K. They then added $2900 in delivery and prep fees and $400 in documentation fees. Total is around $87,500. Do these prices and fees appear to be in line with what you would expect? If you were me, what would be your counter?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Sounds about right for ordering one. I got mine at a boat show and picked one the dealer had in stock...they knocked about 11k off the price. If you get one they have taking up space ...they have more incentive to lower the price...good luck.

From my experience it might be a little high. A lot depends on the dealer also. I know I just ordered a new T23 also and there was no delivery and prep fee. Granted you can get a better deal on an in-stock boat, but I think they could probably come down a little more.

You buying this boat in north texas, central, or south?

Did you also just have one sit down with the dealer? If that was the first time you have seen pricing on this boat?

Walk away until you get at least 15% off the price. That just my opinion and I've never bought a boat less than 15% off. There are a few guys here that have gotten 17-18% off on in-stock boats that have been sitting and I know one that got over 20% off but it was a new leftover that dealer was really wanting to get rid of. I order my boats as well so 15% off is nothing to these dealers but still fair to the buyer.

I agree with AJ. I got 15% off on my new one I spoke about in the above post. I did not have a delivery fee or prep fee either.

I ordered my 16 with all options for 79k. I kept the small motor but did everything else including Z5 cargo rack.

I think the more you beat them up on price you are building animosity. I'm a firm believer in "you get what you pay for". If you beat them down on price they will be less likely to go above and beyond if problems come up. In the grand scheme it is really worth it to save $2,000 on a $85,000 boat.

I agree.. I am a firm believer in a good deal for both people ends up paying off in the long run. That being said I did not dicker on my boat at all as I was happy with the price and the dealership got what they wanted. That being said I bought a boat that was in stock and paid right at 70 for my A24 with the 409 motor sound pack 1. I'm sure I could have got it cheaper but again I was happy so why even stress about it.
