6wakesurfers... From my experience there isn't anything too great in my home state... I'm lucky enough to have a place just over the border in western Nebraska... Here in the 303 waters cold and lakes are not as abundant as we'd like... So atleast in and around Denver it's overcrowded and not the greatest place in the world for boating... Just my opinion about lakes here
Having worked the oil patch in Colorado, Wyoming, and the railroad in Nebraska, S Dakota, and Wyoming there's just no really good lakes in those 3 states. Some puddle around Denver, the 2 big lakes in Wyoming are usually wind blown, and the one small/medium sized lake in western Nebraska is featureless as far as scenery. You guys are definitely dedicated boaters to tow so far to get to a reasonable sized lake. However, you got to take what you can get in that part of the country am I'm envious of the mountains in Colorado.
