Mine did it too... caught the code before it cleared and it was the exhaust temp sensor... quick flash from the dealer and all was good. 60 hrs no problems.

What does it mean exactly to "flash the PCM?"

Mine did the same thing SP3 with rev 410. When I took it in to have my wet sounds EQ installed and Amps switched to the bigger SD4 and SD6 Amps they switched my ground and that fixed my issue

You reference fuel pressure sensor with your derate. Not sure where you came up with that. There is a known issue relating to the tolerances of the exhaust temperature sensor. Typically at idle, it will pop the engine warning light. If you take the boat in, the dealer will "Flash the ECM". That simply means, hook into the ECM (Electronic Control Module) via internet and download new programming that will "loosen" the tolerances for the exhaust temp sensor and it is fixed.

On a side note, I have a gremlin in my boat as well...I have a rattle under the floor in the driver area. Has been to dealer 3x and cant find it. It is being sent to Malibu in Loudon for review, correction. My concern is some wingnut has left a part or tool in a difficult to reach area. I have steadily removed trash from the boat in the first year...items left from assembly. Malibu could stand to tighten up on quality control, IMO. No need to leave screws and nuts in the bottom of a boat post assembly...just sloppy.

It's like a windows update.. they update the software with an updated one that likely changes the parameters.

There was enough screws in mine to build another boat...

Same with my Moomba and same with my Supra. Had extra screws, zip tie clippings, pieces of stripped wire, and bits of carpet. Myself and Alexandera are great friends and boat together a lot. We both had QC issues on my A24 and his Malibu LSV that he had briefly. Alexandera wrote a 4 page letter to Malibu/Axis on the survey. I wrote a strongly worded response as well because we are repeat customers and I also included pics. The day I sent in my email survey I stopped by my dealer for break-in service. Ironically the exact same time I was there the customer service manager for Malibu/Axis called the owner of my dealership to talk about my survey while I was in the showroom. The owner saw me and asked me to come to his office. He put the customer service manager on speaker phone. We discussed all my little details that were defects on my custom ordered boat. Discussed how dirty the inside of the compartments and various voids were as well as other things like forgetting my Z5 cargo rack, rough and unpolished gel-goat, inconsistent spacing of side bow cushions, a quarter sized blister in the gel-coat on the inside cabin, amp rack mounted diagonally practically, and LED grommets broken/cut/squished. He said my boat should have never left the factory in the condition it was. He literally was at a loss for words and said he was embarrassed that my boat was shipped. This was just appearance/cosmetic issues as well (I never had any mechanical issues as of yet). I basically told him who ever is his QC person needed to be terminated because it's not like Malibu/Axis is pumping out boats like a car factory and that a decent QC person could visually go over a new boat in 10-12 minutes to find cosmetic defects. After our 30 min phone call I walked out with my break-in service paid, my next 50hr service paid, and mailed some Axis swag.

They found the gremlin creating noise in my boat...it was the throttle cable unsecured hitting the floor of the boat.

Knowing the ticky tack issues that folks say are common on boats, I'd think we should start a boat manufacturing company. If we provided the market with boats that had even "B" level quality, we would be a few letter grades above our competition.

Good for you Chris. Now you can enjoy your boat without constantly wondering what tool was left in your hull.
