AJ...thanks for the link. The 2nd one, Prosport 20a, sounds like it would work fine for a standard 2 battery setup, right? And these are what you just run an extension cord to in the garage and they keep the batteries fully charged all the time?

Do you have to have the factory battery switch in a specific position?

And you leave this plugged in/hooked up even in the off season when boat won't be used for months at a time?

In the off season typically a flooded battery will lose approx 10-13% of its charge while just sitting. An AGM type battery will lose approx 2-3% charge sitting unused. Even the inexpensive Pro Sport 20 has a maintenance feature to monitor the batteries once it has fully charged them, so "yes" you can plug it in and leave it. It has an energy saving mode once it's just maintaining. Just turn your Perko switch switch to "off" and plug in the charger.

r33pwrd, I'm pretty sure you have the Prosport 12. At least that's what's in my new boat and that's the option for the battery charger.

It's only a 12A charger. Better than nothing but they should be using the 20A model for litterally a few dollars more. As always you pay a premium factory price for that 12A charger and could've gotten a larger charger and/or gotten the Pro Nautic version with better features and technology compared to the Pro Sport models. The 12A should do fine on a 2 battery setup if you don't deplete your batteries all the way down often. If you are running a 3 battery setup I would definitely upgrade to a 20A or better yet at least a 30A charger.

Not sure if it has been mentioned but you should also pull your batteries and put them in a controlled environment. I usually put mine in my house for winter time.

You have your boat under a carport correct Dezul? If so, I would do the same if outdoors.

Yep. I winterized mine today. I didn't pull the batteries yet though. I will probably do it tomorrow or Sunday. The lazy bug got to me.
