I put this on another boating forum and thought i would put it here as well to see if i could get any more information.

We have a 2016 axis A20. Getting it winterized now at the dealer. They are also fixing some gel coat issues (noticed at delivery) and putting in the 2nd battery, it only came with one.

One thing we noticed from reading the manual is a mention of a indicator horn on the transom that is suppose to signal to the rider when the surfgate transfer is going to happen. It also mentions this can work with tower lights but that is optional but makes it seem like the horn is standard. Ours does not have this and so far the dealership is playing dumb. Last we heard they are going to check with Malibu.

Any experience with this?

I have a 16' T23 loaded with all options except the light bar. They was not a horn option on the Axis Sheet just the LED light bar indicator for $1600. I have Z5 Bimini and Rev 410's so the light would not be functional for me but can be added much cheaper around $500

The horn is a Malibu option for 2015/2016...

No horn, the idea was not followed through but the manuals, at least some, were already in print.

Weird to read about it in the manual as if it is a standard feature. Im interested to see what the dealers response will be.

The dealer is not the manufacturer. If it's not listed on your build sheet as standard then it's not offered. Are you really expecting your dealer to fabricate and/or engineer something that's not offered? Is your written manual the same as the online manual? Maybe there's a corrected version. What page in your manual does it say this?

I guess I should say, I am interested to see what malibu's response is through our dealer. No I dont expect our local dealer to come up with something on their own. I just found it weird for it be talked about as clear as it was that is was a standard feature. Our build sheet doesnt mention a temperature or depth gauge but i have those. The way i read it in the manual is it is part of the surfgate package. Our build sheet included surfgate so i can assume a feature mentioned with surfgate would be included with it. As opposed to the indicator lights which it states ore optional. It is on page 2-43. I finally found a online manual and it is the same there as well:

The gates are controlled by selecting the desired
surf side of the boat (port/left or starboard/right).
When a gate is deployed, the actual desired surf wake
will be created on the opposite side of the boat. For
example, when the left wake is desired, select the left
arrow; the right/starboard gate will be the gate that will
deploy. The gate will deploy only between the speeds
of seven (7) mph and thirteen (13) mph. While the boat
is underway, the surf wake can be transferred from one
side to the other in less than three (3) seconds. While
the transfer is occurring, there is an indicator horn on
the transom that signals to boarders/surfers when the
surf wake is about to transfer from one side to the other.
There is also an indicator light, offered with the optional
tower light package, that will also indicate the surf wake
is transferring.

That would be a fairly significant option cost I would suppose to some. Personally I wouldn't get it but that's just me and I surf most of the time. The couple friends that drive my boat when I surf just give me a hand signal has soon as they hit the surfgate switch to change. Doesn't take but a few tries to figure out the timing as long as your driver gives you a signal of some sort.

I talked with my dealer about it and they saw the same (I think we both work with MNinboard). Dan wasn't too confident that it would be there. Would like it though!

Instead of watching for the driver signal, I started watching the gate. When the side you're surfing on starts to move, do the switch and you're all set!

Horn would be nice.

That is what I do also watch the gate.
