For those boaters who do not have SurfGate but have lots of extra cash.

Pretty big price tag for a surf system. Not sure how many people are going to be willing to do all the install work and fork over 4 grand. I would rather sac it out and try a poor gate solution.

I have a 2013 A20 that I really like and enjoy. Plus the fact it is PIF! The only drawback is the lack of surfgate. I am running poor gate, bags, tanks and the wave is good; but it still isn't surfgate. So for me this would be an option that I would go for rather than lose a boat load of money on a trade or sale and buy a newer boat. 4k is no where close to what it would cost to upgrade into a newer boat.

Why not just copy a surfgate setup from an a20? Should be super easy...

The Poor gate still lacks from a Surfgate A20? I would think with bags and a poor gate you should be able to get 99% close to a A20 with surfgate.

It may be super easy if you have the skills of our Australian friend that did it, but i myself am not quite that talented. As for the poor gate wave it is very good, but the convenience of deploy and switch on the fly is what I would like to have.

Really I think it would be super easy expecially if you could get ahold of another axis with surfgates sitting next to it. One could easily draw and have identical gates made. Hell I have even seen a malibu wedge added to a non malibu boat ; )

I would say about 90%.

The platform on the pre surf gate boats still has a negative impact on the wave. They raised the platform and narrowed the platform when they added surfgate.
