Wake looks great! How long have you been riding? My first Axis (first inboard actually) was a '13 A20 and I progressed a lot behind that boat. Keep up the good work!

Also, for me, TS 180s were easier to learn since your body wants to unwind anyway. Landing switch toe off of a HS 180 is more awkward but everyone progresses in their own way.

This is really the first year I've been riding consistently every week. I have a handful of times in years past but never enough to get real comfortable riding. Growing up I did a lot of slalom skiing but wakeboarding has taken over as my favorite by far now. This is our first inboard as well and has really been a good starter boat for us. Safe to say we are hooked now.

That's me to a T. I've got a 12 A20 and love it. Be happy you can progress toe side. I'm still trying to get that taken care of. Don't worry to much about rope length. The boat puts out a wide wake from what I'm told and my limited experience with other inboards.

Some people don't realize the A20 wake is wider than the A22. Some people think med/long rope is where it's at when its not for beginner level. Some people who ride at medium rope that can't throw anything but wake to wake need to swallow their ego so they can progress. Riding short around 20-21mph, maybe 22 and concentrating on your fundamentals like progressive edging and standing tall at the wake is easier to work on with a clean narrow wake without having to worry about a wide wake and casing your landings short of the second wake possibly injuring yourself. Falls at 20mph don't feel like falls at 23mph. Good luck, have fun.

I also have an A20. My surfing is good and I'm trying to get the wakeboard dialed in. My question is being that I only have the basic skills for wake boarding, how long of a rope should I be using? I have been using the full rope but don't feel comfortable at the length. Speed seems to be to fast with that much rope. What do you all suggest to shorten the learning curve.

60-65 feet at 22.4 mph is a reasonable speed.

Completely agree, even down to 20-21 but it might be a little sluggish. Make sure your speedo is accurate by using a GPS to verify. Hopefully youre not using full ballast as a beginner. Lots of people ride with too much ballast thinking a bigger wake will compensate for improper technique. Watch this guy Zucky, he influenced me to concentrate on inside to outside wake and lip tricks, 180 handle passes, slides, etc

Is the A20 wake as wide as a 2006 x star?

Yeah it's pretty wide. I ride it 5 feet shorter than almost all other boats.
