So, the gravity drain is and has been an issue. So, I was thinking, why not add a second drain pump that's inline between the sac drain and the tank. This way you're not waiting for gravity to drain the bag into the tank. Also, I'm not sure if a slower pump or an equally fast pump would be better. Obviously you wouldn't want a pump that pushes more water into the tank than what the tank drain pump could take out.

By my calculations, a pump wired in parallel with the tank drain pump, on a 12Vdc system wouldn't be that big of a draw on the electrical system. However, I need to check on the circuit breaker ratings to ensure they didn't trip unnecessarily.

Thoughts?

The T800 draws 2.5 - 3A depending on battery voltage.

The ShuFlo 1100 draws 3.2 - 4.5A depending on its configuration.

So I need to find out the current rating and duration of the factory circuit breaker and then install inline "helper" pumps to decrease the gravity drain time and wire them in parallel with the stock pumps.

If your adding a second pump I would just "y" it with the tank drain and add back flow preventer on the hoses. Both pumps draining out one thru hull port.

I added a "y" so my single drain pump sucks from both bag and tank. Works a lot faster than gravity drain. I think I may just pull out my hard tanks and upgrade bags.

Hi there , have been been running my A22 that way for the last couple of years & works very well . Mounted 2nd drain pump at rear of fatsac & pumps out of bag back into hard tank. When draining it starts to push water out hard tank vent line as well, it really speeds up drain times. Running the factory 800 GPH pump & never popped a circuit breaker , & now the bag drains about 99 % of all water out . I also run a second pump for filling up ,circuit breaker have been fine, gives you the 1600 GPH fill flow . Just hate waiting for ballast fill ups.

That makes no sense. If you're going to install a second drain pump just Wye it into the thru hull and drain the bag out the side of the boat rather than into the tank.

Boardjnky4, I've already done something similar to that before. However the head loss through the wye connection is significant enough to not ignore. Secondly, the added costs of extra check valves (not to mention the head loss there as well).

I've been simply brainstorming ideas to both minimize the drain time (fill times are fine to me) and at a minimal cost and need for complicating the change.
