So my friend ended up getting an x20 cause he is rich and stuff...this was after he surfed my boat and enjoyed it. I don't think he knew what surfing was coming from a prostar and surfing behind it. He invited the wife and myself out last weekend on his new boat. He filled the stock ballast to "wakeboard pro" and I wakeboarded it. I wasn't impressed. So we surfed it some. It has mellow and steep. The mellow setting was perfect. It looked just like my '14 A22 but longer. The wave didn't have as much push as my A22 with the wedge down but it was definitely enough. The wave was longer than my boat. It was great. I enjoyed it. I am sure it was the longest have I recovered from.

Then we slammed the wakeboard wake with all it had. The water was choppy by now so it is tough to give it a good review. The wake was much better slammed. It felt somewhere between the wedge up and down. It was rampy and semi lippy if that makes sense. Anyways, I still love my axis and prefer its wake. I do approve of the x20 though. I am very impressed by that little boat with factory ballast.

Dezul, the Mastercraft dealer in Knoxville has been having wakesurf days over the summer. I got to ride behind the x23 with the same system. The steep setting put out a wave that was unbelievable. My little wicked wake equipped A20 is fun, but that x23 wave was phenomenal. unfortunately, one would have to be extremely wealthy to afford that boat. We can always dream.

I am glad he is enjoying his new boat, sounds like you had a good time, which is what it is all about. I have spent about 25 hours driving and riding this boat, I wrote a little review of my experiences over on the malibu crew forum, my review is the exact opposite of yours, but I am glad he is happy with it.

Always like hearing about other boats. My uncle has an older X-45 and surfs it, never been behind it but I don't think it has a surf system. I love our boat for what it is and for the money, doubt I could ever see myself spending that kind of coin on a boat, whether I've got it or not.

I really need to spend more time dialing my wave in, I want to make it super long but it works as is.

What does an X20 go for? It's a 20ft boat right? Just curious what difference in price from an A20 (low $50's) to the X20 we're talking about.

This is the worst part of the boat. The dealer told me the base msrp was $97,000, but I think I saw online somewhere that it is in the low 90's, like $93k or something. The boat I have spent all that time in was "loaded" with the surf system, plug n play ballast, heater, all the extras....etc. and was listed at $107k. The boat looks really nice, but I was surprised at how much plastic there was, very flexible, cheap looking and feeling... people have that complaint about Axis, but you are paying half the price.

My buddy's boat didn't seem that plasticy. It had a really nice interior to me. The gen 2 surf system starts making the wave immediately which surf gate doesn't. I found that to be interesting. Not a big deal though. Also the driver doesn't have to hold on to the steering wheel to keep the boat going straight while surfing. The bow rise sucks but it is typical mastercraft. This little 20' boat had the 6.2 Ilmore in it so it had no issues of getting to plane sacked out.

I get to try outt my buddy's new 2015 Mojo today. He just got it the other day. It has the 400 raptor in it. The interior is really nice. It has the manual surf system so it will be interesting to see how it surfs. I plan to wakeboard it too. I will write up my opinionated review about it tomorrow.

Damn dezul! I want your friends!

Curious to hear about the mojo. Any reason why he went with the manual flow vs autoflow?

I'm planning on demoing a Craz next month as we cross shopped a Mondo before buying the T22. Now that Moomba has a 22' I'm more interested in it.

And screw the x20 for six figures... There isn't anything that would make me want to spend twice what I spent on a Axis.

The x20 is for the people with too much money. Great boat but the same surf can be had with any Axis with surfgate.

As far as the Mojo, it puts out a great wakeboard wake. It is somewhere between wedge up and wedge down. The weight sensitivity was noticeably more. He went with the manual flow cause he claimed too many people have problems out of the auto flow. Ultimately, knowing him, it was the price. The boat itself is solid. The interior is perfect. The walkthrough the best part. My back seat on my axis is starting to tear after two years of use. The Mojo solved that issue by making the center seat three peices and walkthrough. The center cushion on the rear is removable so you never have to step on it. It also has a walkthrough.

The manual surf left some room to be desired. I think he had 600lb pnp in the rear. It needs more. It needs 900lb bags there and the surf will be fine.

There were a few things about the Moomba's I liked, the walkover and step down were nice. I am worried about my vinyl but just try to have people be careful. Sucks to hear about yours after only 2 years, it took a solid 12 years for our Malibu rear seat to split at the seam, but it hasn't gotten any worse since.
