We had a bunch of kids out on the boat today and mine mentioned how she missed our old boat when she ski's and kneeboards because she use to be able to cross the wake and go back and forth, now the wake is so large she just doesn't have the weight/strength to do that.
I'm wondering what I can do to get a smaller wake behind the boat? She's 10 and only weighs about 55lbs so she skis/kneeboards around 12mph and we're just plowing water at that speed...Any ideas?

I fill the front ballast.. it appears to help a bit.

I would empty all the ballast and make sure the wedge is up then have some people in bow. Try to move as much weight as possible up to the center and front of the boat. Then you will need to make sure you are going a little faster. 12mph is just a little too slow. I would bump the speed up to about 17mph or even a little faster. Typically the boat will get on plane about 15-16 mph.

If she is not trying to clear the wakes.. then extend her rope some and put her back where the wake is smaller. She will also have a wider area between the wakes if she is back further.

Yes, it's best to fill bow ballast and center. Keep, rear empty and wedge up. My 7 year old boys like to knee board. We figured this out and they are happy again. Can go about 14mph with rope about 20' off transom. Same set up for wake surfing at 9.8mph is fun for them and keeps them from running fast down wake into platform.
