Considering purchasing a 2015/2016 T22 or A22 - love to hear opinions on the 350 Monsoon engine for these boats. My only concern is for wakesurfing, plan to upgrade with 750 bags in the rear and a bag up front and will always have a few passengers, want to make sure there is enough power - also what your opinion are for the best 'surf' prop for these boats are - not concerned about top end speed at all. Thanks!

not an issue at all. with the new gear ratio and right prop, it turns the boat into a tractor. i have around 75 hours on my 15 a22 and do not regret getting the 350. I had a 6.2 l 400hp in my previous a22

I have 2012 A22 with the 350 and the torque prop and 750's in the rear. I surf 98% of the time and have never been in the boat and felt like it needed more power.

I believe the torque prop is a 2315 but I will have to verify that. it's been a while since looked at it.

Awesome - thanks for the feedback - if you do get a chance to confirm your prop(s) that would appreciated

I have a '15 T22 with the base 350hp engine and 2249 standard prop. I use the setup you describe (t22 bow bag, 750 rears, factory ballast and wedge) and even with a ton of people surfing is no prob. Wakeboarding with this setup and lots of people and it will struggle getting upto speed (but it will). For me, the 2249 and 350 is plenty of power for everything we do. Unless you are at elevation you'll be fine.

keep in mind the 15 and 16 is a pcm engine rather than indmar and has a different transmission than the earlier axis versions. the acme 2315 would be complete overkill for the 15. I've been running the oj 945 (15x14) prop and have been happy with it. RPM's are a bit higher than the acme 1235 but out of the hole the 945 wins easily (haven't had the chance to test a 2247 or 2249). top speed is about 35 mph.

Check out this thread on TMC regarding surfing on a T22.

T23 with 350 and 2313... no issues whatsoever.

Don't ignore that last sentence. I have a T23 with 900s in the back and a 650 up front. My debate was between a 409 and a 450. Some days I wish I'd gotten the 450. But the lowest elevation I use my boat at is 3600 feet and there is a huge difference between that and the highest elevation- 7600. I can't get up to surf speed (11.8) with the bags full and wedge down at 7600 feet with the 409, even with just 4-5 people in the boat. And wakeboarding with everything full? Forget about it. I have to pull up the wedge and let out half the water to get up to wakeboarding speed. And that's with the "high altitude" prop. I could prop down even further, but I don't want to give up too much on the top end as I do spend significant time at Lake Powell and can't afford to give up much range-wise there- can't carry enough gas to go where I want to go. It's not unusual for us to camp 30-40 miles from a marina.

But if you're at lower altitude and are willing to prop down, I bet that 350 is plenty to do everything you want.
