Hey folks. I have a 13 A20 and I want to upgrade to the dual battery option. My question: I have two heavy red cables on my positive battery terminal. One I know goes to the starter. Where does the second one go? All input appreciated. Got the boat out of the basement today and installed the engine panel support kit from Wake Makers. Me like! A sunny 60 degree day in Knoxville made it possible.

Second one probably goes to the power distribution panel for all the electric in the boat.

I have been thinking of doing something similar. But my plan was to separate accessory power onto the "house" battery (in RV terms) and use a diode-based isolation bridge to allow the alternator to charge both anytime the engine is running. That way I do not need to switch batteries, and the engine starting battery is never run down by running lights, sounds, and other toys.

But every time I get close to doing it, I remember that when lights are on, we attract bugs, so we mostly stay dark on the water. Also at night we are usually pretty quiet. And we are active in daylight with the stops less than an hour or so as the boarders get their strength back up for the next session. In truth I will probably never pull the trigger on the project...

Dealer said I got the dual battery option but I only see one battery under the seat on the left side. Can someone tell me where is the second battery located and is there a switch to use them alternatively?

They both go inside the observers compartment and that's where they only go in Axis unless you do your own custom install somewhere else. In 2014 they started putting the batteries under the observers seat. You should have two battery boxes and two batteries. The Perko switch is a red knob looking switch. If you open your seat back to access the observers compartment it should be on the carpeted wall on the right...if it's there you can miss it. If you do not see 2 battery boxes and do not see the red Perko switch then your boat does not have the dual battery option. I always have no less than 3 batteries and I've had 4 in a couple boats.

Thank you AJ, looks like I need to have a conversation with my dealer.

You should have 2 batteries and a switch that allows you to switch between 1/2/both/off. If none of that exists, then you better get your boat to your dealer because that means you're missing something you paid for. Do you still have the build sheet from your purchase?

Re-read my post, I added a statement about the Perko switch

That's what I thought, but didn't see the 2nd battery or a switch so I went crazy yesterday trying to find a battery that is missing. The option isn't on the build sheet, but dealer told me he was adding one along with several other options (neptune speakers, sumo bags...).

hah, looks like we were all posting at the same time... Do you have ANY receipt for that? Sounds like you're about to have a dispute with a dealer...
