I know there is probably a thread on here about this, but I did some searches and could not find it.

Just wanted to pass along some new knowledge for me, maybe old for others, but still good in my opinon. Up until this point, i have been running factory ballas, full PNP (750s rear and 950 arrow bow) with wedge down. Pretty nice wake, been my go to for a while. Recently I decided to try something new...

Same setup as mentioned before but now no wedege, 1100lbs surf fack laying long ways in the floor (driver seat back to bench) and a 600 laying horrizontal accoss the bow. OMG the difference!! I will get some pics soon.

I have the 2315 prop and it gets this weight up, but does take a bit to plane.

If you have other opinions I am open to hear.

Thanks,

You are basically running johnnybravo's setup. He likes the more weight and doesn't have a wedge on his A22. There are a few threads about it a couple of years ago.

I'm sure I'll be tweaking the setup when my '15 gets here, but completely agree with you when weighting our '13. We stopped using the wedge, added extra bags, and never went back. The transition is nice and smooth.

Its really night and day. As mentioned in the original post, it takes some time to get on a plane, but well worth it. Super clean wake. Im in love again!!

Makes sense the wake is better because your displacing more water and the additional bow weight is putting more of the "V" into the water. You could do pretty much the same with wedge, 650 triangle sack on top of the bow. Wake would have more lip. Sounds like you run as all like I do by needing the 1100lb sack.

I would love to be able to add more bags and not use the wedge but most of my friends like the shape the wedge gives. It adds that lip to the top. I personally think the wake is more consistent without the wedge and easier for newbies like myself (been riding for 4 years now) judge the pop.

Yep, more consistent is the truth. I've been caught off guard a few times while hitting the wake with the wedge causing me to lose control. It's definitely more predictable without it. I like being able to ride up the wake instead of hitting it and immediately getting booted.

I agree. I love the lip with the wedge but the wedge means a smaller sweet spot on the wake so boat speed and line length have to be dialed to hit the lip consistently. Without wedge it's much more forgiving but does lack that boot if that's what you really like
