Hello everyone. I am possibly going to be the new owner of a 2010 A22 vandall. I'm going to go look at it and test it out this Friday. It has 402 hours. Is that a lot for being a 5 year old boat? I was looking at some supra's that where not as new with less than 150 hours. I am curious is there anything y'all would recommend doing or trying while I'm testing it out? This would be my first wakeboard boat and I don't want to make a big financial mistake. I've done some research and they seem to be a good boat and not many people are having problems. I'm curious how is the interior and everything holding up? Any help would be appreciated

I wouldn't be scared of buying a boat with 400 hours on it. I wouldn't be scared of getting a boat with 800 hours on it if everything checked out on it.

At 400 hours in 5 years, you are looking at 80 hours per year. That tells me the boat was used during the summers but not every weekend. I would be honestly scared of buying a boat of the same age with only 150 hours on it.

Welcome and good luck with the demo. Hours don't mean much it's the way that the owner took care of it that matters. At 80+ hours a year they should've done at least one if not two oil changes a year. Look at the vinyl and plastic in the boat. This will show the most obvious signs of abuse or care. I believe there were a lot of complaints about the quality of the vinyl from the first few years of axis production. Hopefully somebody else had more info on that. I wouldn't buy a boat without having a boat mechanic go through it. May cost a couple hundred but may save you thousands or at least give you peace of mind.

My first boat was a 91 Ski Brendella with 1200 hours on it. This was a starter boat to see if I liked owning a boat. The engine and trans. were taken care of and I had no issues with the power train. Vinyl was ok and all in all the boat served its purpose. So take the demo ride, and don't just do a 5 minute quickie. Check all systems and features, check the fluids, and see if any excessive water accumulates in the bilge. Make sure blower and bilge pump work, and no excessive steering play. If all that checks out and the price is right, go for it. Just my opinion.

my last boat was a 2010 a22 and it had close to 500 hours on it. I am very confident that boat will run at least another 1000 hours. I wouldn't be concerned about the hours. my boat also had the original vinyl and still looked great - I didn't do anything special to keep it clean. just wiped it down every trip.

I thank all of y'all for the replies and help. The boat is a one owner, He bought it from a dealer and now he bought another boat from the same dealer and the dealer is the one selling the axis boat for him. I had the shop do a compression check today and the numbers where...... 1=185,2=185,3=190,4=190,5=185,6=185,7=185,8=185. There are no maintenance records if I remember correctly, the guy at the dealer said he did all of it himself. Is there anything else y'all think I should get them to do before I go look at it? The dealer said that they checked the fluids and everything and its all fine. I do plan on taking it out on the water for at least an hour.

The interior is in good shape from the pictures I see but there is a tear on the back corner from people have been steeping in and out of the boat from the swim platform. Its at the seam in the middle of the seat. It shouldn't take much for a upholstery shop just to re stitch the seat. The swim platform mat is kind of messed up from where a cat looks like it has scratched but besides them 2 things the pictures look really good but I will tell more when I get there in person.

I know it would be hard to tell without seeing the boat but what do y'all think a boat would go for like that with what I described? I booked the boat and it says its worth 47-48k

my 2010 sold for around 41k in socal earlier this year. It had the 400 hp engine with around 500 hours, most other options and a standard trailer.
FYI - you should have the dealer replace that seat skin as part of the deal.

I tried. I made a offer on the boat 3500 less than what they where asking after they dropped the price 2k the week before. I tired to get that included but the owner of the boat said as is for the price I'm looking at. Dealer said they could fix it for 2k and I told them I could get it done cheaper back home.

ahh didn't realize the boat was on consignment. I thought the owner traded it in for a new boat. you can get the entire upholstery done for 2-3k at an upholstery shop.

If he does, we want pics. I personally would go through the dealer to get this done. They typically have great vinyl guys and the dealer does take too much profit. The vinyl on my old Centurion was screwed when I traded it in. The dealer's vinyl guy made it look dang good. Let me see if I can find before and after pics. The vinyl was Malibu type vinyl.
