I think you're confused. The lower the Pitch Number the slower the top speed. So, the 15"x14.25 Pitch would have a higher top speed than the 15"x12 Pitch. I was curious if the wider diameter would still plane off with a fully weighted boat. 4000+ additional lbs.

I thought I would post an update since I was finally able to wakeboard behind the boat for the first time last night.

Boat:
2015 T22
Base 350hp PCM motor with 1.7:1 gear ratio
Acme 2249 prop
38mph WOT

Surf setup:
Factory ballast
PNP 750 rears and bow bag
wedge down
3500-3800rpms at 10.8-11.8mph
Typically 5-8 people

First I tried riding with full ballast, the wedge down, and 7 people. The boat struggled to get up to speed until we moved 2 people to the bow-it was working really hard. The wake was huge and really lippy (maybe too much). The next run we pulled the wedge and the wake was great and the boat got to speed fairly easily. I was at roughly 4100 rpm's at 23mph.

Per my OP I was hoping I could get away with an Acme 2279 or 2277 to increase my top speed/decrease my cruising RPM since I'm on a really big lake and spend a lot of time (and gas) getting around. After yesterday I am not sure either of those props would work for wakeboarding at all. With the 2249 I have plenty of power to spare and I feel like I could add as much weight as I want and the boat will be fine for surfing. As for wakeboarding, I think I could run a little more weight than I currently do but I feel close to the limit.

Conclusion: The 2249 is adequate for everything I do. I wish I had more top end but it has plenty of power for wakeboarding how I currently weight the boat. I still may go with a 2277 or 2279 for every day use since I primarily surf and swap the prop for wakeboarding.

I see you are running the new T23. I have one on order and was curious how the 2313 is working out for wakeboarding?

Your words can't be more true though. The axis is a beast for the money. It has an awesome wakeboard wake and a good surf wake...both are very easy to reproduce. I love my Axis.

I have 2014 T22 330 monsoon engine with an acme 1235 prop, I have factory plug and play bags not sure but I believe they are 600? in the back not sure what the front is but when is full it lefts the cushion up about 3 inches. My dealer let me borrow an acme 2315

top speed at 4500 rpm with 1235 was approx 37 mph with the 2315 went down to 35 mph

Wake boarding between the 2 did not really notice much difference in engine performance other 100 to 200 rpm for wake boarding we usually run front tank and bags full with back tanks and bags from 0 to full depending on the rider, no wedge for these test speed was between 18 and 22 mph depending on who was riding.

However for surfing they was a noticeable difference in engine performance, for surfing had all tanks and bags full wedge down. The rpms were again about 200 more with the 2315 but the engine did not fell like it was working at all. Rpm was at 3100 with a speed of 10.6 mph, the boat could have easily handled more weight with this prop.

In fact on the start there is some cavitation because the prop spins easier.

also with my swag analysis fuel consumption seem to be less with the 2315.

I think that the 2315 is too "low geared" if you will, unless you run lot of weight, I called acme and talked with Greg and he suggested the 2313 and I would like to try one but cant find one without buying new so it will be in the future.

The 2315 is perfect for me. I like to run it heavy. I actually wished I had the 350 over the 330. We very rarely get out and "cruise". Since you are looking, I suggest you take a look at the OJ 945 also.

just installed my 2247, can't wait to try it out and report back this weekend.

agree about the 945. I am pretty happy with it on the new axis. I think on the pre 15 models it would be a good option.

I need to get one of the 945's. I am stopping by OJ props on Friday to have Eric fix my 2315. I hit a low spot while idling away from a ramp this weekend. The blades are bent a little but that is the extent of the damage. He fixed it up nice last time.
