Can anybody give me a number concerning the freeboard of the 2014 A22? All the specs I found didn't list the freeboard.
If you can I would appreciate measurements at the aft and forward cleats.
Thanks!

Hmmm. I do not know off hand, and I will not see the toy in water for a few weeks, but I woudl still have trouble answering the question without knowing the state of ballast you are interested in.

For example when we are floating and swimming, we often fill the rear ballast and drain the front to sink the swim step to make it easier for the dog to get back in the boat without assistance. We probably reduce stern freeboard by 7 or 8 inches when the tanks are like that. With the front and center full we have a much lower freeboard than when tanks-dry.

Wayne has valid points. Are you needing measurements when boat has zero ballast filled or filled full of ballast (keep in mind there's varying sizes of ballast sacks in the rear, from 400lbs to 1100lbs so that's a huge potential difference).

You guys are right, these are some valid points.
I don't need exact measurements, just a rough estimate without any ballast.
Actually I could also ask what size of fenders you guys are using, because that is what I'm after... :-).
I've heard they should be 2/3 of the freeboard in length.
So I change my original question to "what length and diameter do your fenders have?" :-)

I won't let anyone tie up to me with traditional boat fenders. Order these, they are the best at protecting your boat or just buy some Hippity Hops at a toy store. These allow more room between boats or the dock. In addition, if you and/or someone has fixed wakeboard racks traditional fenders don't allow a lot of spacing so even small rollers can potentially allow your racks or towers to bang together. Just food for thought.

+1 on the exile buoy balls. I also have two of the Taylor big B medium fenders the rope goes through the middle of the fender. It helps them stay in place better and they are easier to tie at correct height.

And the real issue I have is that there are some cleats missing from the A22. I can find my stern cleats. My cleats amid ship are right there, but somebody stole my forward cleats!

I hate this aspect of my 2014 A22. Connecting a bow spring line, for example, required I pass a line thru the hand-hold bar. If I was ambitions I woudl add another pair of pop-up cleats at the front of the boat, but alas, I only want to play with the boat, not modify it to what the factory should have supplied.

I have been using pretty blue finders that are super clean and soft. When i wipe the boat with Boat Candy at the end of each use, I have been noticing very slight scuffing of the gel coat from the fenders. I need to switch to the balls and see if they are better with their rolling action.

Add me to the list of people using the exile buoys. They are awesome.

Wayne, the scuffs from traditional fenders is exactly why I stopped using them years ago. The Exile balls don't leave any marks on the gel. Some 3M Finness-It got out the scuffs.

Do you have to have a needle type pump to pump them up each time or does the electric pump work that fills up tubes?
