Has anyone tried dynamat'ing their floors, transmission cover, engine dividers, or battery/amp compartment to dampen the vibrations and engine/transmission noise?

I wouldn't mind a quieter boat at tow speeds and wide open throttle.

Here are some surf videos from Lake Lewisville and Lake Alvarado in Texas this past October to make my post more interesting.

I would try adding FAE before messing with mat. You will be surprised how much it reduces the noise.

That is just what I need! Awesome. Thank you for sharing.

Does anyone else have a FAE system they can comment on? Fit and Finish, durability, function?

I did some reading on the forums with nothing but excellent reviews and comments.

FAE works very well for those who have it. Quiets the boat down, hear your music better when surfing, and less CO2. It's just not for me so I wouldn't get one. Of course I've never ridden in your boat but is your vibration serious...as in possible bent prop or shaft alignment? If you don't slam your boat with tons of ballast you'd probably benefit from the OJ 5 blade prop. Several of us on here have had it years ago and all have agreed that it noticeably reduces cabin noise levels and reduces vibration. It also reduces prop wash for a clean table between the wakes. Personally I think Dynamat would be a waste of money, time, and effort in an inboard boat compared to results with FAE and the 5 blade prop.

Thanks AJWest.

I will look into that 5-blade prop.

I wouldn't say there are any vibrations from the powertrain/drivetrain or anything wrong with the A22 in general (I had the boat inspected at MarineWorld in Wichita, KS upon its winterization this year). It was also purchased from get_sum last August with no issues of note. The vibrations that bug me are from the rigid hits on rough water. The reason for dynamatting was to reduce engine noise in the cabin, but the FAE will solve that problem for me.

I have seen other people post the same response stating "its not for me". Why would you not want to reduce noise and CO2 levels? What is your reasoning behind not having a FAE? Does the cost out way the benefits in your opinion?

Cost is only $500-ish so it's a worth while mod to add for those who want it. I just personally love the sound of an inboard motor while underway. I have the 409 motor and it has a little deeper, more throaty sound compared to the variety of 300HP motors Axis has used. In case you haven't tried this, the next time you need to run in some choppy water fill your front ballast. By doing this you'll get the bow down more to get the deepest part of the "V" in the hull to cut through the water. If you are riding across the chop with your bow ballast empty all you are doing is pointing the bow in the air and exposing the flat part of the hull to the chop which is why you get that slapping and jarring.
