I was originally looking at an 2015 A22 with the 350 motor, but the dealer has one with the 410 motor.

I have seen a lot of guys posting their gph with the 330 and 350 motors, but couldn't find any info on the 410 motors.

It sounds like the torque curve on the 410 ins't much better over the 330 or 350 so I wouldn't want to be burning a lot more fuel with a little power benefit.

I would probably be running full tanks, about 1000lbs of sacs, and wedge with mostly wakeboarding and some surfing.

What kind of gph are you guys getting with the 410 motor?

I had the older 6.2 liter HH motor in my axis and it did not consume any more gas than my previous boat with a 5.7.

I have the 410 in my A24 and never calculated gph. However, you'll probably not get any info that will of much use due to a lot of reasons...everyone's boating habits are different. You have to factor in prop, altitude/elevation, ballast, crew size, wedge or no wedge, how much is cruising, how much is surfing, how much is wakeboarding, how many starts and stops are you making for riders, how much are you at idle...etc etc etc. Though I'd be curious to know what gph my boat is at, I've never once calculated it in 24yrs of boat ownership.

I think posts on the Malibucrew website started the rumor about the 6.0L not having a torque benefit over the 5.7L. The 6.0 makes near peak torque (about 400 ft-lb) from 3000 to 5000 rpm. The 5.7 peaks at 3500 rpm (370 ft-lb) and then drops off fast. The 6.0L makes significantly more HP. No comparison, the 6.0L is a stronger engine.

The 6.0L will burn more fuel than the 5.7L. While the 6.0 is likely more efficient than the 5.7L you don't all that HP for nothing. HP takes fuel.

I have a 2013 A20 with the Monsoon 410 6.0 we surfed Lake Havasu 10 Hrs a day. We used about 25 gallons per day. If you have the money get the bigger motor you won't regret it.

I don't want this to sound rude but if fuel consumption is your worry then you may be buying the wrong boat. My biggiest regret which isn't that big at all is getting the 330hp engine. With a bigger engine you can always reduce the weight for better efficiency, with a smaller engine, the engine is your limiting factor. I honestly feel like the 350 would fit 90 percent of wakeboat owners.

Hey Dezul, I know these boats don't get the fuel efficiency of a civic. I'm just trying to feel out if people think the 410 motor is worth it over the 350 considering price, fuel consumption, and power.

If the trade offs in one area didn't out weigh the benefits in others then I would go with the 350, but I think I will be happy with the 410.

Good luck getting an honest comparison because most people aren't capable of testing both to their full potential and providing honest numbers between the two. Imho the bigger engine is always better.

If you ever plan on boating at elevation get the 410 motor because you'll want the extra HP to make up what the 350 will lose. There's only been a few guys on the Malibu forum that I've chatted with that have both the 350 and the 410. These guys also swear by the 410 being able to pull more than the 350 even if it's just a little more. You can get the 410 for about half of what retail is for the upgrade if you have a good dealer. Keep in mind that 2014 and older Axis boats that had the option of 350 or 410 had similar gearing ratios. In 2015 the 350 has lower gears than the 410 and will pull harder. IMO the question is not the 350 or 410, it should be the 350 or 450. I love the sound of the 410 while underway, more of a growl to it and I like that but most probably want quieter.
