I find it easier to winterize the rider with a wetsuit. November 29, 2014.

That method of winterization just isn't effective around here.

Nice vid.
Havasu was awesome this weekend. I was able to get away with just a wetsuit top still.

Looks like a good time.

I've never agreed with the "100 rule". I can't see any fun in being on the lake with 55 air and 45 water or 50 air and 50 water. Living in Texas my own rule is 80/60. If both temps aren't met then I'm not going out.

Agreed. The 100 rule sounds like drysuit conditions to me. Maybe I'm just a wuss when it comes to the cold. 80/60 is pretty solid.

When they were in high school my daughters were on surf team (Bragging time: the youngest was California State High School Champion). Anyways they had to be in the water paddling out by 6:00 AM or they got a tardy and could be benched. Winter morning temps here (LA County beaches) are in the low 50s and the water gets in the low 60s. So my kids are amazingly tough in terms of cold water. But recently they have been living in Hawaii and are becoming less tolerant of the cold.

As for me, I do not get out of the boat unless the water and air are both warm.

We Surfed on 29 Nov also - Located in the Montgomery, AL area - Air Temp = 67 -- Water Temp = 62, we were wearing a 3/4 Wet Suit though - Great Video.

I was also on surf team in HS in HB. Coldest day I surfed was 36 air temp and high 50's water. I still wore a 3/2 but I was used to the cold back then.
