Hello all - long time lurker and here and on wakeworld... finally found a good deal on a new vandall 24 and pulled the trigger. Demo'd this past weekend and picking it up this weekend.

Now, I have done quite a bit of reading on all of the issues people are having and taken it all with a grain of salt, BUT I am particularly concerned about the tachometer issue affecting the cruise and whatnot. Its a huge selling point of the boat for me and mine, but I haven't personally experienced the issue some people are having - however I certainly don't want to.

Is it ridiculous to ask my dealer to at least check to see what Rev tach I have? If its Rev B, can or should I ask them to order me Rev C? I won't be having them install it unless of course the can get it in by Saturday... 3 hour drive for me. Am I encroaching on warranty issues if I opt to install it myself?

I probably shouldn't feel bad asking them to do anything, I am buying a boat from them after all. Just don't want to be a dick.

TL,DR Bought a new a24, might have REV b tach, should I ask dealer to replace without even taking delivery of boat?

I wouldnt feel bad about asking the dealer that or any other questions. You are buying an expensive boat from them!

Agreed!!! Get what you can now. Even if you feel like they are going to be great for service. This will test that point.

One mistake I made during delivery was just being awestruck by the new boat, and not looking it over thoroughly. Look that think over with a fine tooth comb, document, take pictures. Have them write it all down and agree to have it all fixed during the off season. Little things like bad stitching may not seem like a big deal but once your making that payment it starts to irritate you much more.

I'm hoping my "awestruck" moment doesn't come back to bite me in a couple months when I drop the boat off with a list with a least a dozen items on it to be fixed. Mostly small just irritating things. I don't think I have a lemon at all. All new boats have bugs that need to be worked out. Don't get me wrong I love my boat and my dealer has been good so far, but these are hand built toys and things get overlooked and Malibu/Axis just pushes that repair on to the dealer instead of taking the time to fix it at the factory. I've heard some horror stories on TMC that just make me sick. I hope I spent $70k in the right dealership.

yes it is.

I gave their service manager a call and she said she would at least have someone look to see what tach it is, but was unaware of any of these boats having the issue.

I know exactly what youre saying. We were also awestruck when taking delivery of our boat. I have noticed a few things too that I am making a note of. Luckily the things I've found are minor but I have also heard some horror stories.

Give them a chance if you have the issue. If they are not a high volume Axis dealer and the owners of their Axis boats are unaware of the issue then I can see how she may not know of the issue. Most who know about the tach issue are members here so it's good to keep up on this site. Love the dark gel with light flake

Trust me, you want the tach fixed. Your dealer does have a lot going on also. It is up to you if you want them to check the Rev. Mine learned about the issue from me. Dont let it ruin your weekend on your boat though. It is a minor issue.
