I am a bit of a pot stirrer so my response would be:

"Boats don't stop suddenly.....they travel on water and don't have brakes"

We have been watching the Lake Austin attempt to ban wakesurfing. Get all your local boat dealers involved. They should be interested being that it will impact them. You might also want to reach out to the WSIA and they might be able to provide you with information that others have used to block attempts to ban wakeboarding, wakesurfing or boat ballast.

All boat dealers around have already been contacted and WSIA is already involved. Looks like together they have already put a plan in place to fight this. I know the Council members have already received many letters along with mine. I will let everyone know what happens. Thanks

I have a close freind that deals with this stuff all the time. One of his best arguments with a city or lake council is economic impact. What happens when they succeed in banning wakesports or ballast on boats on a lake? People will go to a different lake to use their 50k-100k wakeboats. That means they also take their money that they would spend on gas, beer, food, parts, maintenance ect. And spend it somewhere else. Your group can get some numbers going and your group and them (council) would be suprised when you see a number posted. It is amazing how much money is spent on the boating industry. A number will go a long ways.

very good point .... what kind of revenue are made from the homes on the lake I imagine that if they can't use there boats on this particular lake then why have a house on it? fits very well with the above statement

Most of the lakes in Texas are managed by the state and the local/city government cant change state laws. The change has to go through state legislation. Our local lake found out the hard way because warden gave a sitation to a district attorney's son for surfing and it was the last one.

Unless on private property some the lakes in Texas are also federally managed (Corp of Engineers) along with state agencies so yes, it will be hard for serious changes.
