So now that I purchased my Axis I am learing to surf, but I still like wakeboarding a lot too. My boat is an A22 and currently has the stock hard tanks for ballast, nothing extra. Right now I am surfing with the stock ballast full and the wedge down. My plan is to buy the bow sac and the two of the rear 750s and purchases the add on wake gate from Wicked Wake.

So here is my question.... I boat with people that ride regular and goofy. Is it possible to make both sides of the wave good for both styles of riders? I know I could just fill one of the 750s and make the wave good for me, but that doesnt help out the others, plus normally while I am in the water I will wakeboard then surf, so I want to keep my wake even.

I dont want to drain and fill the sacs all day just so I can accomodate both styles of riders and still be able to wakeboard. Is this possible or am I SOL?

Thanks for the input.

It depends on your crew size. I have exact setup you are describing except I built my own poor gate.

When it's just my wife and I in the boat we still have to lean the boat and the wave is good enough to ride without a rope but it's not great still have to work to stay in the pocket.

Our magic number seems to be 4 people + driver to make it easy to make a nice wave without spending a ton of time dialing it in. We still lean the boat a bit on surf side but it's pretty quick small adjustments just to clean things up.

First of all, Congrats on the purchase of your new boat Given that you do not have surf gate, I would purchase the wicked wave for both sides of the boat if you want optimal surf on both sides without adding and dumping ballast bags to change surfers you do have to manually attach it and take it off though depending on which side your surf. The sacks your ordering should do fine for generating the wave/wake you want. the wicked wave will just allow you to dial in the surf wave better. you are in no way SOL, given that you have a nice boat and can get out on the water. Wicked wave should only be used for surf. bags full and wedge down (depending on your motor and prop) should generate a nice boarding wave.

Without the wedge I can fill all the stock ballast, my rear 900lb sacs, and arrow sac with the 2315 prop at the 335 Monsoon and still get to plane. It puts out a pretty good wakeboard wake like that. Then we just drop the wedge and surf it when we are done wakeboarding. I know you don't have the surf gate but you should be able to do the same with the wicked wave attachments. The wave will look good on the opposite side you attach the device. You may want to have your passengers sit to the surf side.

If you have the 350 engine and the 1235 prop and 750lb rear sacs with the arrow sac. You can drop the wedge and still get to plane. You might need a person to hop up in the bow till it gets past 17mph. When you are done wakeboarding strap the wicked wave on and surf.

Great! Thats what I wanted to hear. Thank you for the input. Any prop recommendations? I have the 350 engine and most generally go boating at lakes around 1,000 ft elevation. I just have whatever prop comes on it stock

One other option...ditch/retrain the folks that ride on the wrong side. Im fortunate that just about everyone in my cove (about 12) all ride goofy side. There are 2 others that ride the other side, but I just don't invite them out. One tried to ride heal-side on the goofy wave but it was painful to watch...sorry, cant be surf friends. ;-)

You probably have the 1235 prop. You should be good to go. If it doesn't get to plane then you may need to upgrade to a bigger prop.

My buddy has the same engine with 750lb bags in the rear and full ballast with wedge and still gets to plain. Our elevation is 810'.

I have the torque prop but have never had anything else so I cannot compare it to the stock prop. But I can say I have never seen my boat struggle to get going so I would recommend a torque prop and keep stock as spare if you notice any struggles.

You may want to look at the Acme 2315 if your standard 1235 isn't getting it done.
