I purchased a 2014 A22 with stereo pack 2 five weeks ago and have had nothing but problems with the stereo. First the tower speakers had a lot of feedback and dealer repaired it. Then the stereo would change stations every time i adjusted the throttle. That was really annoying! The dealer replaced the deck. This past weekend I finally was able to play the stereo at max volume and now the alpine amp is over heating. I am afraid I am going to go thru the entire summer with no stereo.

Has anyone had similar problems?

Does anyone have problems with the Alpine MRX-V70 amp over heating?

unfortunately the dealer is not a audio store. if you want to mess with it you can try and turn your gains down but the best thing to do is take it to a place that only does audio work and let them set it up

Second what amsugg is saying. If your gains are set too high or you're turning up the head unit too much, your speakers will clip and eventually damage them.

Take your boat to a very reputable audio shop, preferably one that does A LOT of boats. Boat stereo systems are not like cars so they really need to know what they are doing. Sounds like your amp is going into "protect mode" and not necessarily overheating.

The amp should be a class D amplifier....which means it is more efficient with the power it uses. Hit up the Malibu forum and see what David analog has to say about it in the audio section. He can offer some great advice.

With that being said, you should never play your stereo at max volume...ever. It starts to clip then and you have the potential of blowing something. I usually never go past 30 on my deck but I have a wet sounds 420 and rev 10s with my tower speakers turned up to 3\4s on the 420. When I had sound pack 2, I never turned mine up over 35 on the deck.

+1 to both amsugg and dezul. Max volume is a really bad idea, and sounds like your system was probably never tuned.

I had the same thing happening. I researched and figured out that the amp was going into protect mode like mentioned above. What I found is that the amp is tuned with gains etc to max volume with the DSO and equilizer on the head unit turned off. If you have the DSO on like 3 and the equalizer in the head unit on and then blast it you get what is called cross phasing and the amp notices it and kicks out to protect itself. After I figured this out I have had no issues. So when I have a rider behind me I turn my head unit stuff off and blast away. When sitting still or just cruising where I don't need the volume say over 35ish I use the DSO and equilizer settings on my head unit to enhance the sound quality. Hope this helps! I haven't had an issue since I figured out what was happening.

Ideally, you should have all default eq settings. No DSO, treble, bass, loudness, etc set on the head unit. Goes the same for ipod/iphone eq as well.
