Not sure if this is common since I never leave my boat in the water, but this past weekend we went on vacation to a lake in North Al. The house did not have a boat lift and the nearest launch was about 15-20min by boat, so I opted to leave boat in the water. each morning I would go down and have to bilge out water for about 10-15min.

Normally I launch boat at river close to house and ride for about 1-2 hour. Sometimes bilge comes one sometimes it dosnt. I always thought one of my fat sacks leaked or that my "dripless" shaft wasnt so dripless. Either way wasnt a big deal.

Now however with this test, I am worried. what happens if the bilge goes out. this proves that as long as my boat is in the water is it taking on water. Where do I start looking? Shaft seal, rudder...

Anyone else have this issue?

Read, that whole thread, it threw out some possible causes, but there was never a follow up.

do you know what the final fix was?

There is no magic answer my friend. There are several pieces of gear. You're gonna have to put it in the water and monitor each area. Sounds to me like its enough water to where you should see a drip.

That last thread was my boat. I was just doing some work and Im pretty sure I found the culprit and HOLY SHIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CHECK YOUR RAW WATER PICK UP!!!!!!

I took a flash light and wanted to tighten those hose clamps that go from the raw water pick up to to my fresh water flush housing. You wouldn't believe what I found. There are suppose to be two hose clamps per fitting for anything under the water line. My hose only had 3 clamps instead of 4, and guess what. 2 of them were snapped in half just dangling there. I only had one hose clamp holding the raw water pick up hose to the thru hull fitting, then on the fresh water flush housing side, The only thing holding the hose on was friction. That whole assembly is under the water line and was a ticking time bomb before I either flooded the boat or over heated the engine. Worst part is, that raw water pick up's, thru hole fitting's, ball valve is hard to get to and would have been next to impossible to acknowledge a problem, diagnose, and have enough time to turn off, before the boat starts sinking.

So again: CHECK YOUR RAW WATER PICKUP!!!!!!!!!!

Any chance you have a pic of the area you are talking about? I don't normally have much water unless we surf all day, but want to check mine just for piece of mind now.

Yep. you can see the broken clamps, and the perfectly straight edge on the hose haha. It looks like they cut that hose with dikes.

This piece is right after the raw water thru hull fitting and goes into the fresh water flush housing.

Im thinking that the less-than-stellar hose ends allowed water to seep onto the hose clamps, rusting them until failure.

It's crazy to think, nothing was holding this piece of hose from coming undone and sinking my boat.
