OK, so here's s the thing, I am one that likes to have fun. It was a couple years ago my buddies and I figured out how to wakeboard around the boat. This was actually quite difficult to accomplish with the good old bayliner 185 (that struggled getting on plane with a wakeboarder behind and yet I have to mention, it did not have power steering). I was actually really looking forward to trying behind my new axis a20 because it handles a lot better than the bayliner. But then I realized that the tower stern light was in the way of the rope spinning all the way tower. This is a real buzz kill.

So I was wondering if anyone has ever modified there tower stern light and make it more like this so it does not interfere with the rope spinning

Any thoughts or ideas on how I can make this work so I can do some "around the boat" with my buddies??

Got any video of this trick? I would be interest in the driver/rider interaction. Note though, I will not be trying it at home.

Look it up on YouTube, I don't don't have a video of me doing it myself but there are videos all over the Internet. I got the I idea from a local water ski show but then watched a bunch of YouTube videos to get a closer look at how it is done

Steel Lafferty has a sweet clip of him cutting all the way around an X-Star on his Instagram page. It's definitely worth watching.

I actually keep my top light off all of the time because of storage height. (we clear by less than a half inch with it off). We have never thought about boarding around the boat but sounds interesting.
We did have an 89 Ski Nautique and did use to ski around it all the time. Not sure we could do it with the Axis. The Nautique would "spin on a dime". Does the axis set too low on the water at wakeboard speeds to do this...? Would love to see someone do it though....

I think that I am going to remove the light first and see if it is possible to do it with an axis. If it's successful, then I am going to start considering how I can modify the light

ECORE, This is what I did to fit my rope safety release:

viewtopic.php?f=14&t=853

There are a couple pages. Initially I just relocated the stock light, then replaced it with the LED light in your pics. VERY HAPPY with the look and function upgrade. Let me know if you have any questions...Back to surfing :-)

DEFINITELY POST if you go 360 around the AXIS!! That would give the AXIS name a whole new meaning. I may have to give it a try!
