I am in the boat shopping process. What are the advantages of a new v used purchase. The most glaring for a new boat is surfgate. What else am i missing?

I find it hard to buy anything brand new just because of the depreciation from pulling it off the lot. I just bought a used A22 with 200 hrs. The cool thing is, all the small warranty work has probably been gone through already. I would say that any major manufacture defect with the engines, trans, and drive should have surfaced in a used boat. And with used, you can turn around and sell it for closer to the amount that you bought it vs. new.

Ya, I was I'm the same situation a couple months ago. Really wanted to buy a used boat but couldn't find one that was perfect for me. The turning point for me was the surf gate. I ended up getting a new a20 for about $10k more than a used one. For me, I could not imagine myself buying a used boat after buying a new one.

I love my new A22!! but like others have said its nice to have all the bugs worked out. Every new boat has issues, mostly small some big. I was gonna buy out of my area and I'm glad I bought from a close dealer. In the fall when boating season is slow my boat will be going in for a 1/2 dozen or so cosmetic issues. I wouldn't pass up surfgate! if your that close in price buy new you will regret not having surfgate.

I got a 2012 A22 loaded with options and only 90 hours for cheaper than an A20 with half the options.
No surf gate but with all of the extra ballast it came with we were surfing just fine with a small crew this weekend.
I would love to buy new and pick my colors and all the options and hopefully someday I can afford it but I'm very happy with my boat. This was our first boat so I have a better idea of what options are must haves and the ones I could live without on my next boat.
I would never buy new unless it was a custom build and I could get sweet factory build pics and everything done up the way I want.

New for this guy because I want my own custom ordered colors. Dealers usually choose conservative colors. I don't like to follow the heard.
