Hey Gang,
Need some ideas on this.
My rear locker strap has come loose. You can see that the screw has backed out and when I closed the locker a few weeks ago the screw caught my rear cup holder cushion and ripped it. No I did not slam it and have not been jerking on the strap to open the locker.

No worries as Axis covered the new skin along with the labor to have it corrected.

My question is how can I fix this? The screw seems to have nothing to attach itself to inside the panel....
I have now noticed that the bottom screw has now worked loose and I am to a point where I don't want to raise or lower that side anymore until I can fix this.

Called my dealer and he said to just move the strap over about an inch. I said No Problem and went to do this but noticed that the strap is placed in a little indention. If I move it over an inch it will be too tight for the locker to close. You can notice on the picture where it was actually rubbing pretty good to begin with. (Look at the side of the cup holder. Rub mark)
Any ideas on this? I would like to go ahead and fix it and not worry my dealer about it. Also don't want to haul it up there just for this.

Thanks

OK.... tonight the strap fell all the way out. I am raising the other locker and then raising the problem side by reaching underneath it with my hand and raising it by not using the strap at all. (Been doing it this way for two weeks now). When I raised it tonight the strap fell all the way out. Just curious as to what these screws attach to...? Is this an easy fix...? Thinking that it is not and that the skin will have to come off and some repair done inside.

No problem as I am sure my dealer will help get this done. I just hate to haul it 1 1/2 hours just for this. Any ideas are appreciated.

on mine each strap has 2 screws and they're both on the bottom. Did yours start out on the bottom and gradually tear itself around or was it one on bottom and one on the side? when i took my skin off to add a little clearance, the material is like a really dense fiber-foam compound, i'm guessing if your screw hole is stripped out you may need to put it in a different place.

I was actually looking at mine today wondering why the straps aren't out the rear, or at least a second set at the rear.

Anyone moved them or added some? I mostly access them while on the swim deck for a life vest or towel

I have two screws and one is on the bottom and one on the side. The one on the side came out first and the one on the bottom just fell out this weekend. (Note that it fell out without me using the strap at all....) Makes me wonder what is gong on behind the skin.

Thought about moving it over a little but when you look at mine there is an indention where the strap is. Not sure if you can see it on the original photo or not. It was a tight fit to begin with and If I move it over then it will be even tighter and wear on the cup holder skin even more than it was to begin with. Not to mention being able to see the hole marks from the previous spot.... :( Will try to get some close up pics this week and show you what I am talking about.

My dealer along with Axis has been very helpful with the warranty issue with the Skin on the back of the boat and I am hopeful that they will be on this issue as well.
This happened a day out from my year warranty on my skins.... thank goodness. Is this a skin issue or would it be classified as something else...?

No worries as I am confident that it will be taken care of.

Love my Axis boat.

I have the same tear forming on my cup holder because the strap is not centered on the screw so part of the screw head is exposed and is rubbing the cup holder. I advised my dealer of several little things (mostly cosmetic in nature) on the boat that need attention, they advised me that it was not a problem and they would take care of it at my convenience. They suggested using the boat and brining it in in the fall/winter for repair. They said to take pics and document the dates when the issues were noticed.

same problem bama. My screw are in the same place as yours, my front screw backed out and when i closed my locker it tore my cup holder vinyl. I took the screw out and now only have one screw on that handle.

So far the bottom screw is holding. I may add a couple screws to both handles on the underside to prevent what happened to you.

The straps are pretty long. What if you just moved the whole strap towards the back of the boat 1". That would allow you to use the existing hole in the strap, but tap into the plastic cushion backing making a new hole. The old hole will be covered up... Put another screw into the bottom side on the opposite side of the old hole... then forget about the front screw and do not put one there.

You can also keep it in its current location and go up one size diameter with your hardware in both spots....

I dont know. Let me know what you end up doing, I may copy it.

Saw this on a locally made boat advertised, seems like a great idea to me, if I have issues with mine I might look at doing this.

My sanger had the corner straps like the image above. One on the boat side and one on the swimstep side for each panel. Worked much better that having to jam your hand in between cushions if you ask me
