Any of you guys using the piston? I've been reluctant to drill n tap the tower?

What is this piston you speak of? I have a 2014 with the Z5. I don't see anything that's drilled and tapped.

There's a gas piston on the Z5 to assist with pivoting while loading and unloading boards on the rack. You'll notice the piston ball mount on the driver's side of the rack on the frame.

Thanks AJ, but I think mine is missing that piece. I am away from home right now and will check that later but here is the only pic I have with me and I am pretty sure it's missing. Anybody have a picture of one installed?

My Z5 was made about 8-9 weeks ago at the Z5 factory and shipped to my dealer (they are made upon request for custom order boats). I won't be off the oil rig for another 8-9 days but I'll take a pic and update. If you have the ball mount for the piston, it'll be on the frame hidden by your wakeboard rack.

My boat is at the marina right now, but my z5 was installed by the dealer. I had it up for sale at one time, but decided to keep it(because of shipping etc. & it is a badass top) I have never even tilted mine except to put it back on. So long story short, I wouldn't even bother with it if you are uncomfortable with drilling into the tower. Just leave it off an put it aside...just my opinion
