It doesn't lock it down. Just makes it sit in a different position. Once again whoever your dealer is, their terrible!!

I have a great dealer and this was never mentioned. Maybe it comes on that setting from the factory for a reason? Also, I rarely ride with the wedge so not a big deal for me either way.

I will ask some Malibu engineers to see if this is true and get back to everyone on the verdict.

I'm interested in finding more info on this too.

And my dealer didn't tell me either...but my dealer IS terrible (this is what I saw when I got my boat back from the first dealer service, engine cover just laying down and dirty towels stuffed in there):

Looking at it again if stop bolts are removed to allow wedge to go further forward it looks like the wedge angle would be parallel with hull. If wedge was in that position wouldn't it be neutral and not pull boat down?

Thanks Dezul! Let us know! My dealer didn't mention this either.

First I have heard of it also. I wouldn't touch it. It is a floating wedge. I have a hard time imagining the floating wedge being in the perpendicular position while under tow.

unrelated..... but I would love to see what the wedge actually does. I know how it works and understand the theory behind it but does it actually move. to me it appears like its always on the pins (down). if I had clear water I stick my gopro on a poll and film it but you can't see S#@! in my water

My dealer actually told me about it a while back before we took delivery, but I couldnt remember which hole was supposed to be the larger setting. And they were closed on the day I posted the original question, so I figured I would ask here to make sure I was doing it correctly. I didnt know others had never heard of this.
